I was around Hertford last night, ended up in the Stone House. We paid �3 but it's open til 2am. I was with a group of my mates celebrating his birthday. Most of us had a great night without having to dig too far into our pockets. Had to queue for a bit because it was busy but you kinda expect that.
Bar staff are hot and really friendly and atmosphere was brill, although the excess beer helped! Feelin' a bit worse for wear today tho!

During the day (lunch) its frequented by local business people. Evenings and weekends its a younger crowd who go to party hard. The only place with a 2pm late licence in Hertford, and thereforce gets the people associated with that kind of thing. If you're under 30 and want a noisy dance up, it's the place to go. If not, give it a miss. Meat market, and the DJs aren't great.

THERE IS A BARMAID THAT WORKS IN THERE AND SHE IS CONSTANTLY MOODY!!! TERRIBLE SERVICE! SHE REALLY DOES MAKE ME AND MY FRIENDS FEEL REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE!! SHE IS AWFUL! CANT REMEMBER HER NAME, SHE HAS LONGISH DARK BROWN HAIR AND CONSTANTLY HAS A SAD MOODY LOOK ON HER FACE, PLUS SHE IS SOOOOOOOO RUDE!! BA! WE ALL CANT STAND HER!... IF THE MANAGER IS WATCHING THIS, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE SACK HER! SHE REALLY ISNT A GOOD LOOK FOR THE STONEHOUSE, SHE SHOULD BE WORKING IN A PRISON.

I usually have a great night out at The Stonehouse on a Thursday evening, despite its flaws. Unfortunatley tonight has totally changed my mind. Yesterday (22-11-2007) was my 19th birthday, which would usually be a time for celebration. This evening was no such occasion. I was ejected from the premises by one of the bouncers for the following reason: "Last week, mate, ya know, you were wearing a hoodie and didn't take it off."
I am totally dumbfounded as to why I was really kicked out. 7 days ago I wasn't even in The Stonehouse. Fair enough 14 days ago I was there, and fair enough, I was told to take my hoodie off at the door. This, I did. I went to see my friend in the smokers' courtyard area outside and put my hoodie on. Whilst out there I was told (by one of the barstaff) to take the hoodie off, a request to which I obliged. I thought nothing more of it. This evening I was dragged out from the bar 2 minutes after coming in, at great embarrasment to myself and my friends, as if I were a criminal. Once ejected I was then mocked by the bouncer as he proceeded to tell the manager how I was "getting well lairy with him" and told that I "couldn't return for 3 months".... happy birthday eh...?
I do not plan to return to The Stonehouse in the foreseeable future and I advise you to stay well clear of it and its puke stained dancefloors.....

What a dive! Horrid horrid. The service was ok and the staff seemed ok but the place was full of chav's and it just felt dirty and unclean. the toilets didnt have any toilet paper in and there was sick in one of the toilets.
If you are between the ages of 18 and 18 1/2 and enjoy sitting on you bmx outside tescos...this is the place for you! Cheap drinks and a cheaper atmosphere. Avoid it at all costs!

Been there done that worn the tee-shirt. I like this place - a great late evening pub - open after some others are closed. Yes you have to queue to get upstairs. Look if you don't want to get on the dance floor then don't queue. If you do, and there is more than one of you then why worrry. One of you can go to the bar while you queue.
If you don't want to dance then stay downstairs where it is great anyway.

I would like to commend the Stonehouse on the excellent friendly quality service my friend and I received last night (07/06/2006).
We were visiting from London on a pub crawl in Hertford and this was the "food stop". We would not ordinarily have visited but called on recommendation from another pub which apologised for not having food as advertised.
All the bar staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. There were a couple of complications with our food orders but we were pleasantly surprised at the imaginative way in which they remedied these, keeping us informed all the time.
And the food was well worth waiting for. Although this pub serves no real ale, the soft drinks were very good value for money compared to those further south.
Pleasant laid back music, a spacious environment and an enclosed beer garden made for relaxation throughout.
I personally thank everyone for our great experience at the Stonehouse and would return on a future visit to Hertford.

Get some guest DJ's in spinning some funky house and garage tunes, so everyone feels the happy vibe as in London.

Lively place to go on the main weekend evenings!
Never been upstairs, because queing inside a venue is just too much!!

A great place to be drunk in. A little expensive, but the upstairs is the best place as that is where the dance floor is.

This is a great pub to go to on a friday night. Great tunes and quick good prices. Cheap entrance of �3 on a friday. Can't complain!!!!

Nice, Trendy bar. Lovely Food!Gets very busy on a friday & sat nite as open late.DJ upstairs plays chart music which is cool.Tends to get very long queues o/s & in for the upstairs section so get there early.
