Great to see The George back open amazing what a bit of paint does to a place. Nice pint of Young's Bitter. Good staff and nice place to relax for a pint after work.

I have to side with punkpete. Being a Chelsea fan (and a punk rocker to boot!) I checked it out before the Juventus game. An almost identical round was almost twice as expensive as The Goose. The Youngs was apparently in good nick (as it should be in a Youngs pub!) but the Guinness had a metallic taste that stuck in the throat.

The place was clean, warm and the service was quick and friendly. The place did lack atmosphere though, and the background music (which was steadily turned up to annoying levels) did nothing to create an atmosphere in a pub dominated by tiny tables for two (perhaps tables were taken away in anticipation of an onslaught of Chelsea fans, although this never arrived).

I'm sure it will be popular with the trendy Fulham crowd, but as someone looking for reasonably priced drinks in non-clinical surroundings, I'm afraid its just not for me.

punkpete has no idea. It is lovely to finally have a decent pub in Fulham to relax with a good pint of beer and nice staff.
It can only get better from here, huge improvement from what it was like before

Now open a week by Youngs & a mistake by the look of it.High Beer prices & hot pie's is all this revamp has produced..God knows what the Chelsea fans will say when they visit !

oh my god stay away from this place...this place was awful when i went in, me and my mate were stared at like we had just walked into the local pub for local people in the league of gentlemen.dark and dingy and full of pissed old men in filthy clothes proping up the bar. we turned round and walked straight out. would not recomend based on this visit

very dark and dingy pub with unwelcoming bar staff would help if they all spoke proper english get some nice friendly girls behind there

yeah chrisbass ya have a point , i been coming in the george matchdays a bit more regular ,and probably alot more now they ruined the malsters, just wonder how long before they make the george into poncey 'upmarket' pub like the cock and white hart etc
chrissyboy - 18 Jul 2007 18:01
But chrissyboy, if they gave it a refurb it probably would cease to be a good old fashioned boozer. Just look at what they did to the White Hart! Fulham has enough clinical, tasteless wine bars and I hope the George retains it's character.

The George has become my official matchday pub, full of genuine footy fans, good footy banter and an atmosphere you wouldn't be scared to bring the missus into! My only complaint is that they only seem to have one pump for real ale and I've never seen it in working order. That said, the Guinness is a fine and ample replacement.

Old fashioned pub on the corner.

Good drink and good prices, makes a rare change from all of the expensive upmarket places.

Been my local for 20 years & is slowly being taken over by a eastern european element..Also with Kronenburgh at 3.10 a pint, this boozer could be on it's last legs!
punkpete - 21 Jun 2006 13:04
good old fashioned boozer ,although bit of an old mans pub.could do with bit of refurbishment
chrissyboy - 26 Mar 2006 16:21
full of coppers and grasses mentioning no names.

What a place! How pubs should be.Friendly regulars, cosy setting, no rush to clear you out. Genuinely lovely pub and great decor.

the (what appeared to be) regulars were having a conversation so entertaining, it was like walking into an English version of Cheers.
