Haven't been in here for best part of 20 years, but watched the football in here yesterday. Cracking pub.Quality pint of IPA and decent service. And proper Pork Scratchings

A fine looking pub from the outside and just as good on the inside, if one forgets the snooker table at one end and the TVs all over the place making it look like Rumberlows. No carpet but dark tiled floor which I liked. I was in on a very quiet Wednesday night. No food except crisps. The beer consisted of the usual corporate Green King and I think Pride, otherwise it was the semi-corporate Abbots. I must say I have tasted better than this, maybe it was too cold but certainly not worth £3.65 a pint. So I moved onto the Lancaster Bomber hidden at one end of the bar. Better value at £3.30 but again not much taste. I was in last year and like the last chap must state the food was good on that occasion and very reasonably priced. Most of my points go for the lovely building, the best on the High Street.

Normally eat here about twice a year. The food is good with a decent pint of beer. However, this Saturday lunchtime was very poor. I understand it might be under new management since my last visit. The menu has changed with less choice and some popular dishes absent.
Decided not to stay and glad I was not missing out on some good beer. Greene King Abbot, IPA and London Pride rubbish. Very disappointing.

Well this is the pub i work at so of course i think its a good pub but thats not the point. Just wanted to say that we now normally have up to 7 real ales on at any one time (currently Tetleys bitter, Adnamas bitter, black sheep, GK IPA, GK Abbot ale Fullurs London Pride and Sheapard Neams Spitfire and if for any reason the pint you have been given is undrinkable then plz by all means tell us about it and we will replace it with a fresh one or an equivalent of ur choice at no additional cost we are there to make ur visit as pleasant as possible but note however that if the reason ur pint is undrinkable is because you have left it to long and its gone flat dont expect us to replace it thats ur fault not ours (btw some ppl do try this) Also we are trying to arrange for regular saturday night entertainment from live bands to karaoke (at least once a month we hope) check in the pub or with a member of staff for details

Couldn't believe it. Even more beatiful than the Golden Lion - another stunning C15 or C16 century beamed building. If this pub was in London it would be a major tourist trap. A characterful, lop-sided treasure.

I went in this pub at the weekend and its dying on its arse. It used to be a busy pub for the 'too old for the Salisbury' crowd. There were only about 10 people in there on Saturday.
The beer in this pub was superb a few years back when Tom ran it but its been going downhill since. Serves the usual slop now.
Sorry to say that this pub has seen better days and is resting on its wilting laurels now.

Visited this pub last week and was disappointed with the quality of the ale. The Black Sheep was undrinkable and way past its best. The Greene King IPA was passable but ive tasted better. No sport on the telly when I visited so pretty quiet all round. Decent size pub with plenty of bar stools at tables which I liked. Will give it another go as i may just have caught them on an off night.

Pre July 1st,it used to be the smokiest pub in Britain, and this is coming from a smoker!Probably the best pub out of a pretty small selection in Hoddy high Street.Gets very crowded on match days(especially Arsenal v Spurs).Usually 3 or 4 ales on offer of varying quality. The GK IPA was almost undrinkable on my last visit.Still, this old duffer likes it better than the Salisbury next door...
|
Nice pub for those too old for the Salisbury next door. Beer is miles better too. Normally have 3/4 real ales on and they are usually more than OK. Service always good and it shows most football games which is a plus for me.
|
really friendly bar staff, a relaxed atmosphere and good beer. what more can you ask for? reccomended for anyone that wants a quiet drink and a chat with frinds.

Real ale pub Next door to the Salisbury Arms,Nice food and a selection of Real Ales from the Handpump, there is also a couple of TVs and Background Music.
If you like pool tables Large screen TV,or Video jukebox, why not try the Salisbury Arms Doors away !.
