Pretty decent pub to get some food in and watch the football or Rugby. It has quite a few ales on which have all been okay when I've had them. The prices are a bit over the top for what this place is though.

came here hoping to take part in the free quiz night they run every monday, but we turned up too late for it.
other than that, my experience here was a good one. would easily come back again.

Cracking pub, very large with a decent outside bit for the rare occasion when the sun's out! Well kept beer and normally fairly lively. Good for the football.

I've never heard anyone ever say a bad word against The Red Lion, it's a great pub with a great atmosphere. Arguably the best pub in Manchester!

Fantastic pub. Can get rammed when the footie's on but can still find enough room to stand and watch the game, even after arriving at half time. Nice food, good choice of beer, very chilled atmosphere and not overrun with students! Staff really friendly (and I have to agree with Mostin and Scootini83 - hot guy with dreads behind the bar = added bonus)!

I love the Red. After over 20 years, I still love talking nonsense in the vault.

nice pub to sit out all day and drink bitter.... ummmm
|
this place is excellent and is well worth a look just for the staff, they must be hiring from a dam modelling agency, o nice beer also.

the red lion is an enjoyable drinking session pub! i will happily sit in there all night and drink the pedigree which is crisp and well kept. The good beer plus lively atmosphere results i9n this being one of my favourites in manchester

This is without doubt the best pub in Manchester, good mixed crowd, good beer, very fit bar maid, i think that the fact it is a 2 minute walk from my flat may also be a factor. QUALITY PLACE

In the 80`s this was THE first port of call before clubbing in Manchester....always packed to the rafters, with guys n girls practising there comeonlooks for the night ahead...It went steeply downhill for a while...but now appears to be recovering lost ground...It was Marstons best selling pub for quite some time..It even used to have Owd Roger at various times(recently on sale at the Royal Oak, Didsbury)... Theres been a couple of refurbs & lets hope it continues to climb back to where it was.

Best Pub in Manchester - agreed. Great mix of people. I am 'not from these parts' but always made to feel welcome. The beer is lovely, as is the garden/bowling green and the newly refurbed front. It's even a good laugh in here when it's City vs Utd!! As i say, the best.

Tom! 100% agree on the barmaid, worth going for the view alone!

Nice place. Best pub in Manchester for watching sport, and the food is surprisingly good. The quality of the pints has greatly improved since they got rid of the automatic pourers.
