food at this place is fantastic.the only problem is that it's quite small and because it's harpenden you'll find it's full of fake tits and real arseholes.

Seen the comments about this place. Have just moved into the area and looking for somewhere that's open later than 11.30 - any ideas? The only place that has so far been suggested is Billy's.
If nothing in Harpenden, can anyone suggest somewhere in St Albans? Ideally, looking for a late-night bar that caters for the 30 something crowd rather than 20 something.

Quite awful. The girlfriend, a friend and myself went here last Monday for a quiet lunch and a few drinks.I agree with the comments regarding toffs and IT girl wannabes but what got me was the lack of quality service from the waiting staff. All our food orders, all three of us, were wrong, and depite three atempts to get a knife and fork to eat my lunch they did not come.

Quite popular with local no neck 'rugger' types, love the sound of their own voice and have a very high opinion of themselves! Would give it a miss!

Erm yeah agree with most comments, what a place for over aged women who think they can re-live there youth, although can say that the owner is pretty dishy! Thats the bloke by the way!!!!!

A bar full of pretentious wannabees - forget the elites because they wannabee! The most jumped up bar I have ever frequented! Get rid of the jags/bms and the "elite" will go too! What a time wasting space - these people are full of talk and oxygen robbers!Dont bother with this place unless youre a wannabee thats not gonnabee!

Still, this bar tends to be packed full of those suffering under the delusion of North Herts chic.
Barely tolerable at best.

Billy's is a small bar/resturant that has become a Mecca for all of Harpendens elite socialites and hangers on.
Parked outside on a typical night will be half a dozen luxury cars from Mercs, Jags, Porches to Austin Martins.
Though there are undoubtably many rich and sucessful people who frequent Billy's these are far outnumbered by the hangers on, either a mix of young girls and middle aged sex in the city want-to-be's who turn up in the hope of meeting some rich footballer or financier or guys hoping that said girls might settle for a cars salesman at a pinch.
Like flys to a honey trap Billy's is alway packed after 8pm and unless your in early be prepared to be standing and frequently buffeted around as people compete for space and try to see who's around or be seen by others.
Food pretty good though
