Disappointed to report that in the evening they now blast dance music throughout. In other words, I was about to go in and changed my mind and went elsewhere. It looked pretty empty in there too, so I can't be the only one put off by the music.

The first born brought me in here on Wednesday evening to close our small crawl with a Belgium Beer. Probably didnt see the place at its best as it was very empty and seemed to have been recently taken over by new management who were still sorting the place out. And an 8.5% Belgium Honey Beer is probably not the best way to end an evening on top of what we had already imbibed. But worth a visit just for the building and the interior and I could sit back and admire the ceiling whilst chewing through the Honey treacle.. Great to see these old places kept alive as places to drink in, and long may it remain so.

beautiful building but I was a bit disappointed with the beer range- most of draught beers weren't belgian and the two i was tempted by were both off.

A beautiful old building, that serves an excellent range of beers. And when it comes to food, you really must try the mussels!

I've been coming here since it opened, which must be well over ten years ago. The mussels are great. Nice selection of bottled Belgian beers. Beware, though, if you order a bottle. Pour it yourself. Some of the staff here don't appear to have had training in how to pour and stick the whole lot in the glass in one go.
Beautiful domed ceiling. Shame they got rid of the fountain in the middle of the floor, though.

really good selection of beers in bottles, and some unusual ones on draught, friendly barstaff, can recommend the mussels!

Head downstairs for a decent drink from a wide selection of imported lagers. Friendly staff, music can be intrusive, otherwise not bad.
|
Not bad. A touch pretentious but great beer, soft lighting and all positive comments on the food too.

This place does the best food i've had in a long time. and its not overly expensive. its hard to describe really. restaraunt upstairs but with more of a bar atmos downstairs. nice mix. you can eat a good meal in a nice surrounding then party downstairs! its a gorgeous georgeon building, and definatly one of the best places on high street.

Really beautiful interior, coupled with an excellent range of continental bottled beers (at reasonable prices) should make this a must for any pub crawl in Leicester.
The food is OK though not brilliant however, my mediterranean chicken ciabatta seemed to be distinctly lacking a mediterranean slant...

Amazing Looking Interior with beautiful chandalier and artwork. My mate had a pint of 6.6% belgian stuff, from quite a selection of foreign beers. 8/10

Used to be Leicester's prime bar/restaurant. Over recent years, it's gone down hill. Horrible tables and chairs. Ankle biters obviously welcome!
|
a gem. it's really a restaurant and you'll need to walk past the diners to go down the stairs. once downstairs you can quaff top notch belgian beer that knock your head off. magic
