Having been a regular of this pub over the last few years it is dissappointing to report that although the food is still as good, something has really gone wrong with the change in staff. There used to be really friendly and approachable staff who would really make sure you were looked after. They have all gone... replaced by a battleaxe of a landlady who is always being rude and nasty to the staff and does not seem to see anything wrong with being the same way to the customers! This is not a one off, seems to be every time you visit ... The food is still as great as ever, especially the Tuesday night rump and ribs special for only 6.99. Please please please sort out the attitude...

By far my favourite pub in the area. Definitely not a bar, a real pub.

Big screens, small prices, reasonable food, friendly AND efficient bar staff and a really enjoyable atmosphere.

For ladies ordering Rose, they are even treated to their own little bottles. Just imagine...

If they put an air-freshener and a few doilies in the toilets, I'd give this place a ten.

This place could be so much more than it is and actually thinks its so much more than it actually is. Its got a quirky interior and looks great but fails in a couple of key areas. Service. The staff act as if they are to good to serve you. There may be three people working, and two customers at the bar, but they will still finish their conversation before acting like they are doing you a favour by dispensing your beer, aahh beer! They do not know how to keep it. Their trads, when they have them, are generally a couple of days past their best. My lager drinking friends tell me often their tipple has a slightly eggy smell to it every so often, so we then toddle off up the road! I would avoid!!!

This place looks although it needs a little TLC, but I think that is the look that the management are going for. The barman that served me was new, but he pulled a good pint of Hare Raiser. The Greene King IPA and Abbot were both off, but a selection of standard and premium lagers were available. The pub wasnt as busy as its peers, but it did have a more discerning crowd that were chatting away above the strange muffled music.

There was a projector screen on the back wall and also a dartboard which was blocked in by numerous tables and chairs. A few of the tables were reserved for later in the evening and there were a few people standing around outside waiting for one of the tables on the pavement to become free.

I think that I would probably walk past if in the area again.

My favorite pub in this area. Quirky, relaxed and always welcoming. I agree with the comments about the quiz, best way to spend a Monday night, hilarious. Quiz master Steve is to say the least unique.!! Food is excellent. Highly recommended.

King's Arms is a great little pub that manages to attract lots of different people of lots of different ages without losing it's atmosphere. It has gone slightly more edgy than a traditional pub with the decor etc. but it still has a proper pub feel. A fantastic place to while away the hours any day of the week. The food is good as well and the service is always of a good standard - friendly and fast. Slightly pricey food and beer but it is a place to enjoy a drink rather than one where you neck as much as you can as quickly as you can, so it is OK.
Only negative is the toilets. The ladies (don't know about the mens..) are foul. Even a tiny effort here would go a long way.

A brilliant bar. Me and a few friends were walking past a few weeks back looking for another pint and spotted that the King's Arms had a quiz on (Monday night). We went in and were so glad we did. Been every monday since. We got lucky the first week and found a table but you have to book in advance for this usually. The subsequent mondays have alwasy been packed and the quiz is genuinely good and entertaining (Quizmaster Steve is entertaining and a great character) and the food here is fantastic. I really can't say enough about this pub. So friendly and a great atmosphere is backed up by a real cosy feel. There are even boardgames to play here if your not quizzing or watching sport. If I was looking for a bad point it would possibly be the loos but they are certainly not the worst I've seen. One of my favourite new finds since moving to this side of town.

Love it. Genuine effort now made on all counts since being taken over. Beer very good (although the Ruddles County seems to be unavailable too frequently), food great, service attentive and everything generally reflective of a well run pub. Has it's own genuine character. Just terrific.

I go to this pub regularly, I really like it. The food is good; the atmosphere is great; the music is usually good; the decor is unusual and unique...I like it.

It can get crowded and smokey in there but can't all pubs...London is generally expensive for drinking this is really no worse than anywhere else!

Since my first visit to this pub (which was at the end of an all day pub crawl, hence my inability to remember going there) I've been back there many times and it's now my favourite pub! The bar staff are polite and very efficient, it's clean, there's comfortable seating, I like the decor and the food is pretty good too. Would rather it was smoke free but you can't have everything.

This pub doesn't have a fruity - it IS a fruity. You can get lucky and it'll be a real winner, or it'll just suck the money from your wallet and be beyond awful. You just can't work out the formula for which it'll be at any given time. Sociable atmosphere, drinks/vinegar quality and lungcancertastic rating are all highly unpredictable.

Love the red decor and they usually have some great specials. A bit too smokey though. Could sort out some better ventilation.

What, have all you guys been going to the same pub as us. I LOVE THIS PUB! from the funky sofas, to the outdoor seating, the food, the red, the wall paper.......

Oh by the way guys... I believe that you bring your own atmosphere!

According to my credit card receipt I was at this pub with a group of friends on Saturday night. It was completely unmemorable apart from the fact that the walls kept moving, the ceiling was spinning and the bar staff had a "fuzzy" look about them. This is clearly not good enough so please SORT IT OUT or we will not be frequenting your establishment again. (Not that we'd be able to find it anyway as we wouldn't have a clue how to find you.)

this was the sixth pub on my crawl home tonight and i wished wed skipped it altogether. i avoided the weatherspoons down the road for its inherent lack of atmosphere but i could have slept just as soundly in here. dull

Had a great burger in this pub last week, great food and hoegarrden but it would be better if the extraction worked as hard as the lovely lady who served me. Good food, I'll be back, just ignore the smells of the kitchen.

With regard to the comments amde by 'Hockers', was hie in the same Kings arms, tooley street as everyone else ???

I have to say that since the refurb of what was once a den of iniquity, this little boozer has only gone from strength to strength !! All the staff are extremely delightful and they have managed to attract the right type of clientel.

All i can say is give us more of the same , well done to who ever owns it !!!

While I agree that this pub is aesthetically pleasing inside, I think it's ridiculous that they only sell wine in 250 ml measures. I know it is up to the individual to drink responsibly and this isn't the business of a landlady/government or anyone else but to actively encourage irresponsible drinking still seems somewhat out of sync with common sense.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to have the option of buying a small glass of wine rather than quarter of a litre - and the landlady's attitude in suggesting I find someone to share it with did not further endear me to her.

Not a pub I'll be revisiting or recommmending.

very nice pub and best burgers in town.

I recently moved to the area, and after much searching through potential candidates, this has been appointed as "the local". The bar staff are friendly, the food selection is good, the drinks are reasonably priced, and they have a projector TV for sporting events and films. The huge sofas are a bonus too. There are some dubious metal chairs around the bar that look like something the spanish used during the inquisition, but other than that, very agreeable.
