Still very much closed. Although the building still stands.

Went past this place the other day and it was all boarded up and derelict. Looks like it has shut up shop.

Loved the pub - proper friendly local with lots of character. Unfortunately the Youngs was dire.

Triffic little local pub - yes, people there wear baseball caps and it's a Chelsea pub, but it's good natured, even the dog, and they sell good Young's beer.
|
I'd try it again though because apart from the blue paint and pictures, scarves etc everywhere it has character. I hope the beer is better next time. I've no idea if it's got a reputation for being lairy or not so I wouldn't paint it with that brush.

Small basic one bar pub on the just off the one way system on the road to Putney. Yes - as the previous contributor pointed out - it's a Chelsea pub, which is hardly a selling point, but, perhaps because there was 6 of us on our Wandsworth crawl last Thursday night, we didn't come to any grief. Note the John Youngs London Lager mirror - you don't see those on the Youngs circuit very often any more - in fact I cant immediately recollect the last time I saw one at all.

Great little place to look at but the beer was rubbish last night and there was too much chelsea crap everywhere!!

I came to London from South Africa and visited the Wheat Sheaf wich was infact my first english pub, I found everybody there to be freindly and warm I in turn felt turn felt very welcome and immediatley struck up a relationship with them. The pub is small a gives of a feeling of home ,complete with the family dog called brandy who I might add is quite a character and a freind. I strongly recommend this pub to anyone who enjoys good beer and good people.

I have visited this pub on many occcasions with friends and always found the staff and customers welcoming. I have enjoyed many a Chelsea game on the big screen with a great atmosphere. It's quite a small pub with a small, but pretty rear courtyard which is a cool retreat on a hot day.

I first visited the Wheatsheaf after being recommnded it by a friend. On first impressions it seems a family pub, with many local regulars. Being a darts fan, I enjoyed a game or two with a couple of couple of friendly drinkers and enhoyed a great pint of Special. I later escaped from the sun and enjoyed a beer or two in the collness of the small garden out back. I did not find this pub intimidating in the slightest and will be going back next time in the area.

Well, looks like I 'm the first to comment on this pub. It is one of Young's smallest pubs, with only the one bar. The smallness of the pub, coupled with the customer base and a rather large dog, who appears to roam around inside the pub at will on the occasions that I've visited, means it feels slightly intimidating. Although the locals appear not friendly ( as opposed to unfriendly), given the smallness of the pub, any non - regular feels immediately conspicuous. I think what I would say to anyone doing a Wandsworth crawl is that there are many more preferable pubs that I would visit instead of this one.
