Discovered the Lincoln Lounge some 5 years ago -allways enjoyed my visits. Great layed back feel. Not a real ale haunt but good lagers. The rough edges have been smoothed out over the years (a bit like the area) but still maintains a chic charm.

This doesn't feel much like a real pub. It's never been great, but in the past couple of years it has got worse. There's a restricted selection of beer, and the bar staff tend to be dour-faced.

If it's a Friday, you will end up standing outside dodging cars or pedestrians who just want to get through the big crowd of people without too much hassle. Rather than a pub where you can go for a peaceful drink, it feels more like an American bar with a bad dj.

I have no idea what pub 'The Publishers' went to but it obviously wasn't the Lincoln Lounge! I've been to A LOT of pubs in London and this is one of my absolute favourites.

If you want a proper pub feel with great music and quirky but cosy decor then go here. If you want a quiet drink that turns into quite a few more than 'just the one drink' go here. It's the sort of place you'll feel so relaxed in that just one drink isn't enough! But in my experience it's also somewhere that you might go for a quiet drink with one friend and a few hours later find yourself dancing away with staff and fellow pub goers alike who have all suddenly become your best friends!

Fast and friendly service, great location, great atmosphere, great pub!

I must disagree with 'The Publishers' (who I susspect are NOT the publishers of Beer in the evening)

I have been here loads of times and always had a very good time, I find the manager brilliant and realy friendly as with all the staff.

It's a nice place to just hang out with mates, ( I went on a forst date there and it seemed to impress them!!)

Yes there are not that many Ales there but I'm sure that is something that could be worked on if you asked about it !!

I highly recomend this place if your in Kings Cross its a one of those places that is either realy relaxed or has great music playing !!

Oh my... What has happened to this lovely bar. Where is Steve lee on my Friday night? Where is the good music? Where is everything it once was? Christ - what a rubbish difference... and what rubbish service from so called manager - Total Irish rudeness!! I only asked for a chair?!! Thank god the lovely young lady is still there.... But that's it.

It's become a hole for old drunk men and women. Most of which are the manager's friends - Ewwwwww!!!

I really miss the great music - I miss all the locals - I miss Steve just being there - He's always been there and his lovely friends from the dance place - IT JUST DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT ANYMORE!!!

WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE!!! YOU HAVE KILLED THE BEST BAR IN KINGS CROSS!!

I'm off to find where Steve is playing now... I sincerely hope it's in Kings Cross.

Yours,
The Publishers

Like many of the pubs that I used to frequent when I worked in the area, the Lincoln barely resembles any of my old memories of the place. The old Lincoln Arms name may still be depicted in the ironwork over the old entrance but the Lounge for Arms replacement in the name pretty much sums up what has happened to this and a large percentage of the traditional pubs in Kings Cross. The old basic boozer that I remember now has the oh so familiar sofa and coffee table wine bar type setting that is beginning to overtake the pub world. That said, this is one of the more endearing efforts and whilst I wouldnt come here by choice, I wouldnt necessarily steer away from it either. The interior is fairly small and has a certain quirky randomness about it. The rear courtyard with its large pub mural has been integrated into the pub so it is a bit larger than it once was and there are still remnants of the original features although for the most part they appear to be obscured by tables and bookcases. Candles are a big thing; big ones, small ones, long ones, wax encrusted bottled ones, enough to keep Swan Vesta in business for years. Not really much on the beer front. Upmarket lagers and just 1 ale - Bombardier on both hand pumps although more reasonably priced than some of its more upmarket neigbours. Most of the Kings Cross pubs that I knew has now disappeared beyond recognition but, despite the changes, this is one that I would revisit, albeit at a push.

Super little place well away from any tourists, service was exemplary which is so refreshing in central london. Can be a bit cramped on busy nights, sofas are not the greatest use of space which adds to the problem but overspilll onto the street helps (Until the council puts a stop to drinking outdoors).

Excellent graffiti in the loos, obviously some local resentment to their new neighbours from the Guardian newspaper.. very funny! !

Dropped in here for a couple of pints after work recently. It's always appeared to be (very) quiet when I've passed at lunchtimes bit it sure livens up around 5. Good pint of Bombardier and plenty of atmosphere. Friendly bar staff too. I'm not a great sofa fan but there's adequate standing room to compensate. Worthy of another visit I think.

Outstanding service at the bar, warm and competent staff. Good range of beers and comfy sofas available at the back. It's mystery how this place hasn't been ruined over the last few years.

Never noticed this place before, although I must have walked past it a few times... However, once inside, I found an interesting bar with attentive service (and how rare is that in this part of London?). I guess that most customers are regulars, but the room had a friendly atmosphere for the casual visitor. Decent pint of Bombardier too.

This secret bar is legendary amongst the locals and those who stagger across it. Drinks are cheaper than most in North London and the service is good and friendly. Beers on offer are Becks, Staropramen, Hoegarten, IPA, guiness and Stella all below 3 quid.

The music varies - weekly it's normally the radio one live lounge album which is being played by every bar in London - so it could do with a CD change. However, the DJ's are all excellent with good technical skills. Both DJ's I've spoken to play a cracking set and Stevie (DJ and Local) always welcomes everyone with a warm greeting and cheeky grin. (You owe me a drink now Stevie - ha ha)

The locals are a mix of local office workers, media and the odd builder - but all are very warm and open to conversation and banter.

Toilets - I've seen better, but I can't really grumble.

There is some kind of library which I've never had a look through - but with loads of sofa's, you have to get there early to claim your seat for the night.

All n all - A cracking little bar full of warmth, smiles and good music!

Well done the Lincoln!

Fantastic little boozer with one of the best barmaids around from Limerick.Never have to wait too long for service when this sharp lady is on duty. Can get busy at weekends and music is pretty cool.Excellent pre-bar for nearby Egg.Prices good but a wider selection of lagers would be very welcome.Top.

This is my new favourite bar! Went there on the 2nd Saturday of Feb and had an amazing craic. Really inviting and lively, but still really chilled and laid back at the same time.

Lots of brilliant tunes and pretty girls dancing. Beers were good prices too. What more could you want? The 3 DJs were clearly having a good time and this made everyone else relaxed too. We had planned to move on to a club but didn't feel like we needed to so stayed and danced until 2am! Where else can you do this for free?

All other times I've been there since have been great - not as good as the first time but hey. During the week it's chilled but comes alive at weekends.

I think this place has benefited from the recent improvements to the Kings X area. A few years ago I doubt it would have opened on a Sat, let alone had its doors open to all and sundry.

10 out of 10 - really recommend it.

I don't get the low rating. Every review (excpt for one muppet) is incredibly good. Which the Lincoln lounge deserves... one of my favs in London town!
reggieroo - 4 Aug 2006 11:01
my favourite bar in london. Reminds me of the lower east side in NY. Where else can you sit on a couch in the street? Anyone who says the bar manager is arrogant just doesn't get it. Chill out, listen to some good music, meet people and enjoy the Lincoln Lounge!

this is my favorite place to drink and relax. i'm great mates with the staff and i've got to no most of the locals. The lincoln is soooo chilled and inviting the atmospheare that has been created is unbeatable. on any night of the week you can expect good music and good vibes. When you look around its not cliquey however there are like minded people who wanna chill or have a cool party. There is one thing tho ....you have to always be on ur best behaviour or YOUR OUT there is only one trouble maker aloud and he works behind the bar.xxx
cleblobb - 29 Jul 2006 22:51
Recommend NOT to go to the Lincoln Lounge as the landlord had a bad attitude and was arrogant and rude.

Bad karma at this bar. Wouldn't go again.
anna_mariott - 16 Jul 2006 11:36
Absolute gem of a bar, just round the corner from Kings Cross station. Pretty packed in the evening, but as you enter the small hours of the morning it takes on the pleasing atmosphere of a house party round at one of your mates' places. An effortlessly cool mate at that... Top marks for the bar staff as well!
PaulyH - 14 Jul 2006 16:08
Good place in an area struggling for them. Proof that Kings Cross regeneration is just around the corner. Nice relaxed vibe and clubby atmosphere without being cliquey. Not really a beer drinkers' pub but that's not really the point. Particularly enjoyed being told to take my tie off after 5:30pm. Can't understand the current low rating for this pub

Lovely place. Very relaxed.

what a beautiful place, you almost want to stretch your legs far out and smoke a cigar. (some seats are so low, there really is no other way to balance anyway)

what a lush place! refreshing and genuine croud, cosy vibe, good music, a fine sunset, tatty round the edges but that only adds character, art on the walls, stuff going on, even a book exchange. definately recommended any night of the week

THIS IS A LOVELY, FRIENDLY RELAXED PUB WITH LOTS GOING ON IN THE WAY OF ART EXHIBITIONS, LIVE MUSIC, DJS ETC. A VERITABLE OASIS IN DUSTY KINGS CROSS!
