please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Reasonable enough though does have a little bit of a wetherspoony feel to it. The previous poster commenting on the absence of a telly will be disappointed as they do now have them. Has some ornate glass windows and outside is adorned with Kemptown brewery ownership. The Kemptown Brown ale on draught was quite nice. It is pretty much London prices though.

Visited for the first time having heard it had dramatically improved. A good choice of 6 beers carefully chosen to reflect different styles and strengths. I find Worthing pubs a bit expensive but, this was at the top end of the price range. Nevertheless a good pint (or 3), served in an oversized glass by a friendly young lady. The gentleman behind the bar however (landlord ?) chose to ignore us waiting to be served, choosing to continue his chat to two people he obviously knew instead. Food will apparently be available shortly

Yes - total change of culture. Good refurb, although prices reflect it.

Excellent choice of beers and wine.

I think that food will follow soon; but I didn't see a TV, accommodation option or live music capability.

The absence of the last three is a plus - and the local rufftypes have lost a venue...

Now reopened - after a major and tasteful refurbishment. Fixtures and fittings are good quality, with an extensive beer and wine selection; but, no food that I could see.

A bit expensive - with two young untrained barmaids serving.

However, a very pleasant change from its previous sad incarnation.

Popped in on Friday evening for a swift pint after visiting the nearby Beer Festival.

Upon entering the overpowering stench of what can only be described as a mixture of faeces and disinfectant immediately assaulted our nostrils, so can't comment on what the interior was like as we turned straight round and went back out into the fresh air, never to return.

Went to The Royal Oak opposite which served a good pint of Harveys and didn't smell like somebody had done a 'dirty protest'.

Popped in for a (very) swift one . Under newish management (again!!), but, I have to report, still a complete dive - full of sad, weary men drinking their benefits away. Funny, if it wasn't so bleak. I foresee another closure, sadly. Unless whoever owns it - i'm guessing a pubco Punch or Enterprise ? - spend a bit - well, actually, a lot - of money, this place is doomed. Internally it needs a total refit. Externally a lot of work to bring what is actually quite a nice old building up to scratch.

Served yesterday (lunchtime) by the loud, blond and drunk barmaid - who confirmed that this place is to close again soon.

Unlike the last poster, I don't go into pubs to meet the locals - I go in for good service and beer; neither were available last weekend. Hygiene standards are dire and another closure (a long one) is inevitable - as every post, except for the last, tells it as it is.

What do folk look for in a pub? Personally, I'm a people person. This place is apparently under new management and while the pub is as basic as they come, the management were super friendly, as were the customers. A complete stranger yet I was treated as an old friend - if you cant look past the decor of a pub then yeah, keep on walking and you'll find someone prepared to take between 3 1/2 and 4 of your pounds then ignore you completely while you sit alone in a sterile environment. On the other hand, you could give this place a chance and sit with a great pint of Hobgoblin and have a laugh with the locals. Sorry, Shakespiers, but people like you just get my back up!

Please just have a look inside sometime. You'll then know why I just kept walking.

This pub (not a very pleasant place, offering cheap B&B) was closed when I passed a few weeks ago.

be warned..dont ask for a top up"i cant do everything at the same time"said the barmaid in a very rude way.
(as the 2 other customers watched the football) Harveys just about drinkable.
Good pool table.

Still a bit spit and sawdust but a decent pub none the less. Food used to be brilliant but nit sure now, cheap B+B if you can get in. Locals are usually OK. I think they had a clear out recdently and it's much better for it. Worth a visit.
