Had a couple of lovely pints of Otter Ale. The Bank holiday carvery looked and smelt very inviting, and appeared very popular as I looked around. A varied menu, so my party opted for the Fish pie very good indeed. Was the all round verdict.. Finished off with the Apple crumble with cinamon and sultanas.Must say, makes a change to have a crumble that isn't sueted stodge or oozing the granulated...The 3 lady members of staff were on the ball and it showed. A very pleasant visit, will return when in the locale..

Used to be a great pub but now seems to trade on high volume, medium cost , low quality and value. After a very average meal in the uninspiring gardens a girl came outside to wipe out the ashtrays and used the same cloth without even rinsing it to wipe the glass topped tables! The gents toilets had bogeys stuck to the walls - i would recommend a walk across the road to the Merrimead but that doesn't seem to be much better. What a shame for the residents of Sampford Peverell

Not a bad pub at all. A good varied place with a resturant style area and a bar area also a smoking area with an outside tv and also a lovely beer gareden.
My only complaint was that my pint (although cheap) was a little under par so all in all an 8/10

Visited 3 times this summer & will be back, beer good, carvery excellent, very good steak too, staff polite, chef arranged special meal for my wife on her birthday. Suprised at last 2 reviews as pub was very busy.

I agree with N16 what happened to the place? The carvery has gone downhill fast. How many more managers??
|
Bring back Andrew and Sue! This place has had more managers that I care to remember in the last four years and has seriously gone downhill since. A once heaving pub where you had to book for a meal on a Friday night, never mind the weekend, has been utterly deserted, which is a realy shame as it used to have a fantastic atmosphere.

Offer excellent Carvery at weekends and some evenings! Usually good choice of vegetables but not many greens! But if you ask they will provide some!

Top class real ales, and cracking carvery at weekends and evenings. Huge car park, loads of room to eat and drink, including outside area if you can avoid the smokers who ruin it usually.

Virtually the full range of Otter Ale's on handpump plus guests aswell. I opted 4 a beautiful pint of Yeovil Ales's "Summerset", Friendly and welcoming village in, well worth visiting, 8/10

Me and my family came for lunch last sunday. Carvery was one of the best i've ever had. The roast potatoes were fantastic.

The Globe is about a mile from M5/Junction 27 (Tiverton) and is definitely well worth the detour into Sampford Peveril village if you are in need of refreshment. All four of the Otter Brewerys regular brews (Bitter, Bright, Ale and Head) are available through hand pumps. I had a couple of pints of the Bright which were pretty good and although the food service was a bit tardy, the food was good with generous sized portions.

Went for a meal a busy Friday evening, good menu, promptly delivered, however, took a long time to clear the tabel and then waitied an age to order desert, so long, we gave up. Very smokey in parts.

Been here a few times on the way home from Devon. Always good varied food and very attentive staff. Nice walk along the canal from the car park. Great pint of Otter. Bonus last time - happened upon their beer festival weekend.
|
stopped off for a quick beer last week and found both ales - Otters and Butcombe's to be top drawer.

An excellent pub, with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Delicious food and quick service. We have held our last 2 Christmas meals there and they have been a great success.

A great pub with a really friendly nd warm atmosphere. The Bar and restaurant menus are very good and reasonably priced. It also offers very good accomadation withh a breakfast menu to die for, how does salmon & scrambled eggs sound and all for the incredible price of 55 per double room per night. Everyone we take there either on business or pleasure end up re-visiting. Fantastic.
