Unrecognisable from my previous visit as it is now a high-class dining venue. However, either nobody is willing to pay £25 for a superb 3-course Sunday lunch in these parts or they all go to the nearby Elms Hotel for something even better as there were many vacant tables today. Beers were Hobsons 25, Bewdley's Worcestershire Way and Wye Valley's Butty Bach and HPA all priced around £3.30 a pint. I tried the Hobsons which was very good. Cider was Robinsons Flagon.

This place had a makeover earlier this year and it seems to have lost some of its country pub cosiness. It's now a pretty smart gastropub so some of the previous reviews (including my own) are now no longer relevant. I understand that HPA is still the regular ale with up to 3 guest ales (e.g. Otter, Tribute, Manor Arms Ale).

Visited here three weekends ago and sat in the front restaurant near to the open fire because the bar looked grotty. The Salopian Shropshire Gold was good, Wye Valley's Hereford HPA was also available but the pump clip for the Otter was turned round. There were about 3 other customers (Saturday 5.30pm) and the place needs a bit of money spending on it.

Been here a few times when walking in the area and always found it friendly and the beer to be in good condition. Also the small back bar is dog friendly. Worth a visit if you are in the area

my wife and I stayed here on Thursdayn 28th may 2009, and what it lacks in decor is made up for in the welcome we recieved. We arrived looking like refugees with our little dog , we were walking the Worcestershire way which passes the village. We were given a nice room and were served some great pub grub.Freshly cooked and filling. the breakfast was lovely and the staff even made us a couple of delicious baguettes to keep us going through the day.To sum up this is not the ritz , however it is a lovely country pub with good beer and food and welcoming staff..Thanks paul and jen.. and archie the dog

This pub is housed in a smashing building and has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, I have not had the positive experience I was hoping for. On two occasions I went in and had to to wait an excrutiating amount of time to be acknowledged. The young man behind the bar was more preoccupied with chatting over the bar to his mates than to serve any outsiders. Several gentlemen who came in after me were served immediately, locals I assume. I noticed this take place on both occasions and there were other long faces waiting with me to be served. I have never seen anyone take this long to pull me a pint. On the last and final occasion I entered this pub, I went in with my wife and only because she wanted to go somewhere picturesque for tea and I hoped the pub could offer something more, I was once again disappointed. The food was terrible! The pudding was a bit more edible. The staff walked about with a dour expression and the pub landlord seemed to be in a very unhappy mood each time. I have never felt so unwelcomed and have now crossed this pub off my list of favorites.

very pleasant hotel, the bar is at the back & has 4 handpulls, Hobsons beers (including the excellent Mild) often feature. Good food too.

We purchased this pub in june 2006, and in the last year we have worked very hard to improve a great experience.
We have excellent staff and fantastic chefs, and you will always find a very friendly welcome, excellent beers and Ales and fantastic food.
The hotel rooms have all now been redecorated, I hope you will love the charm of this place as much as we do.
Please come and see for yourself.

Been to visit this pub today and whet a gem it is!! Great welcome, great beer and great food (generous portions!) Bikers are welcome and indeed bikes were talked about by people of all ages! I wish I could have stayed longer. Timothy Taylor "Landord" was cracking. I will certainly visit again when I am in the area.
