Now taken over and completely overhauled. Being marketed as a 'foodies pub'. It looks a lot better and is receiving good reviews for the food. They do need to market themselves to the local community so the locals understand that change has taken place. Encouraging!

A decent pub. Nice to see a lack of pine varnished floor boards, designer lagers and besuited executives....but then whatever makes you comfortable I guess. Personally I didn't spot any dangerous poor people about to start on me....I mean Phill Mitchell....he's a bit dodgy isn't he? Anyway on a more serious note. The food was good standard pub grub that fills you up...and the portion was very generous. I drink cider and it's always a pleasure to find something that isn't Strongbow on offer. My only slight problem was that at four pounds a pint and ten quid for a meal going to the pub seems to have got very expensive. Where have the days of a meal and a pint for five pounds gone? Sadly I think its probably the same everywhere. All in all a good place for a drink, and a bite to eat with some friendly folks. Plus it feels like you could live in it...always a winner.

The problem with the Six Bells is a lack of continuity. When they have a decent manager/landlord the place picks up and people DO use it. The problem is, they move on, an indifferent manager takes over and all the good work goes to waste. The Greene King tie doesn't help. Those fools just strangle whoever comes in. The beer was alright on my recent visit but the whole place could do with a spruce up! The smoking ban hit this pub hard. If it was a Free House and someone with an inkling of intelligence took it over it would flourish!

How many Phil Mitchell lookalikes can you fit into one pub? Try this place and you'll see for yourself. No Peggy behind the bar though - in fact for the first ten minutes after entering there was nobody behind the bar at all. The beer (when we were eventually served) was crap as well. Although the food looked reasonable we'd lost the will to live by then, let alone eat, so never got that far.

Used to be good, but went there recentlty and was pretty bad.
Place is pretty knackered looking. Slightly uncomfortable atmosphere. Small selection of ales, but not very well kept.
Heated smoking area is reasonable.
Only stayed for 1 pint and was glad to get out of there.

Visited on a Monday evening, when we had a lot of snow. Usually go to the Shep & Flock round the corner or others but thought would give the 6 Bells a go. First visit for me, and last.
All we came for was the beer. Decor tired and locals ok, but that isn't important. We all had the Greene King IPA, one of our favourites. Difficult beer to murder but they managed it. Have never had such a bad pint, flat as old tinned beer. Then had the guest ale - Ossett's Big Red - tart, almost rancid, with very long bad after taste. Struggle to understand how 2 out of 3 real ales on offer can be so bad. Never again...
Perhaps should have mentioned it to the landlord, but he should know his beers...

First visit on a Sunday eve, and first impressions were good. Not the smartest pub around, but this was made up by the friendly staff and locals, and some well served ale. Only stayed for a pint, but will make the effort to return. Reckon this could be a corking boozer on a Friday / Saturday. Food is supposed to be good too.

Great pub... no skittle alley any more though.

Under the new management this pub is back on track. Nice furnishings and lighting inside are completed by the open fire. Beers are always in good condition and there is more choice. Food is reasonably priced and I enjoyed my meal. Nice beer garden with a shelter for us smokers to keep cover under during the worst of the weather. Overall this is high on my list of local pubs.

Can anybody help me, I am looking to contact the old lanlord of this pub Keith Graham? I don't expect his number but if your in contact with him can you tell him Justin Berry is trying to get hold of him. My e-mail address is: [email protected] cheers

Went to the Six Bells on Sunday 18th, really impressed. Like previous comment, carvery was excellent, staff were really friendly and the fire was definatly a plus for the pub. The back room looks completly different, its now a dining room, hardly recognised it. There Christmas menu looks really good and have since booked our staff meal there. Not into real ales myself so can't comment on them. Overall i would say the new owners are doing a really good job...Well done

The pub has changed hands recently and theyre definitely putting their mark on the place. The menu is very good with a wide choice and there are also about three or fours hand pull bitters. We were in there on Sunday friendly atmosphere, lovely open fire and an excellent carvery. Traditional pub at its best.

I'd be interested to know how this pub is faring now. Comments already posted sum it up. It was good and then it was run by totally incompetent buffoons. A-Boards proclaim "new owners"?

Bring back Louise (oh ok Keith as well)!

Went in there tonight. Wasn't very nice. The lemonade was all watery and the beer range wasn't as big as I expected. Not very friendly atmosphere either. Also horribly expensive. Most real ales around the 2.50 - 2.70 mark and Carling/Fosters at 2.80 and Stella at 2.95. Not good.

Things are going downhill sadly. Leasehold is up for sale and beer quality has been awful recently. Total tragedy. It can run as a successful business. It just needs a decent landlord and some hard work.
|
Keith and Louise ran this place superbly. Beer and food was great and the place was rammed. Regular beer festivals were also held which were a great success. They eventually left citing lack of support from those above (ahem!) and the place has just reverted to be OK. Food is not very good in my opinion and the beer choice is fairly limited once again.
A real shame as it was all going so well!

Since Keith & Lousie left in Sep 05 the food side of the pub has declined we are waiting for a new Landlord at this wery moment, the second since Keith left

Fourth pub in our crawl of Farnham. Sounded great from the write ups below. Friendly enough local with a friendly bar staff. Great menu too. Unfortunatley there was only one beer on, which was Greene King IPA which was no better than reasonable - so if you can stomach Greene King then it may well be worth a 30 minute walk from the station! But preferably when there is a beer festival on of course...........
|
Good pub with 6 ales has a couple of beer festivals during the year and food is good

This pub has an excellent attmosphere, the bar staff are very friendly and knowledgable. The extensive menu will cator to anybodies needs and is always very good. It is also of a very resonable price. In all this pub is really worth a visit
|
Lovely food. Skittle alley good fun. Nice garden. Children's play equipment could do with repairing/renewing though.

Beer festival is on over this bank holiday weekend (28th to 31st May) - 24 different beers and 4 ciders. We went yesterday and really enjoyed it, good beers, friendly atmosphere and although we didn't have time to try any of the food it smelt lovely! So get down there if you have the chance.
