Found this pub by chance and a lucky chance it was, good pub food, reasonably priced and served by pleasant staff in a very traditional (without tweeness) surroundings. Good selection of beers both "real Ale" and others. Our visit was so pleasant we diverted a few days later for another visit andthe beer was still as good and the food likewise.

Visited New Years Eve, four beers on: Ringwood Best, Doombar, Fullers HSB and Flack Manor Double Drop. Drank pints of the latter two. Both perfectly good pints. Ordered food, well cooked and presented; also arrived fairly speedily. Service was good, both barmaid and landlady friendly as were the locals eating and drinking there. Will be going again and recommending.

A lovely village pub with nice atmosphere, good food, and, as we visited during a beer festival, an excellent choice of ale.

Used this pub very regularly up to 6 years ago and loved it! Went back a few days ago. Now keep Doombar, have tasted it better! had a meal-mixed grill, most of the meat was over cooked,my friend had 3! pieces of liver and we were told to leave our seats immediately on finishing eating.Sorry as I have to travel some good distance to visit here I wont bother again. Come on Mops I know you can do better|

I have been going to the Compass inn for some time and you cannot beat the food and the Sunday lunches are hard to beat. And dogs are most welcome everywere perfect.

Beer festival on late spring bank holiday is one of the best I've been to. If you can sit outside then it is very nearly perfect. The beer is superb and you'll be hard pressed to get better anywhere.

Excellent Traditional New Forest Pub, Meals are huge don't eat for a week before you go! Puddings are to die for. Make sure you book for Sunday Lunch it is always busy. They also do Cream Teas in the summer! They usually have a Real Ale festival in May and August with music and a barbeque. Lovely beer garden with a brilliant Painting, along the wall of the pergola done by one of the regulars.Loads of hanging baskets, a nice place to sit on a summers evening, with a pint of HSB in hand!!

Very reasonably priced beers and spirits with house specials. Can't fault the food. A well patronised New Forest country inn. Not much parking in relation to the pubs internal size, this can be a problem if you choose a Sunday lunchtime, which is probably not the best time to make an initial visit.
