A very pleasant place indeed. The log fire is enormous and was roaring when we visited, a real good feel to this place.

Thankfully nothing like the locomotive in Exeter which i don't have fond memories... This place had adnams broadside and wells bombardier on offer,I opted for the adnams(which was sadly on its way out) and my mate had a pint of pear bulmers which came to 5.80. They do a collector card where you get your sixth pint free on selected drinks too. 6/10

We were left disappointed by this pub. The jukebox was overpowering, the orange juice my wife had was off, the real cider I was hoping for (Old Rosie) had run out and we got some strange looks from the locals. They had 2 real ales (Shepherd Neame Spitfire and Adnams Broadside). Lord knows how the resident cat was managing to sleep through the racket!

Well I didn't meet any females, but this was very good pub nonethless. Most villages or towns would do well to have a pub like this.

Three years on the comment from the last poster still applies. For sheer fun this is the best pub in Newton Abbot. Decent real ales and cider available.

By far the best way to spend a night in Newton Abbot, always a friendly welcome and a kick-ass jukebox.

Run by females who are fairly new to the pub trade and very willing to learn, the pub offers a warm welcome and exciting range of Real Ales following representation from the local branch of CAMRA
