Went there for Sunday lunch with the family. The food was the worst we've ever been served and the price was extortionate - 8.99 each. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone, they seriously need to get their act together.

Such a nice pub, great views, but it just seems to go downhill each year I visit. Last visited 17/12/11 - food took ages to arrive and then it was just lukewarm. Vegetarian option was particularly poor. They used to serve a good ploughmans. We asked for a ploughmans, but the barman taking the food order didn't know what one was and suggested a sandwich instead! Drinks were pricey too. All-in-all very poor value.

Recently re-opened after an extensive refurbishment, this is a good sized pub in a great position, conveniently located about half way along the sea front. Theres a fair bit of outside seating on the brick-laid patio to make the most of the views across the channel, with a mixture of wooden seats, stools attached to the tables and that wicker furniture that seems to be popular in trendy pubs these days.

Inside its split in to several different areas, with the main bar area being in the centre of the pub and having a flagstone effect floor. Towards the front is a wood floored area that has an interesting bench seat apparently made out of wine boxes. The paintwork is that khaki shade of green that you get in most pub renovations these days, with rough white plasterwork elsewhere. The bulk of the pub is given over to the restaurant area though, and it is this that affords the best views with a conservatory on two sides. This is clearly not for drinkers due to a Please wait here to be seated sign as you enter this part of the pub. Elsewhere are two smaller rooms, one on a mezzanine level and one down a few steps below it which almost have the feel of a private dining room.

There was an extensive pub grub menu with most of the dishes being around the 8 mark, although we didnt sample the food on this occasion. There was also a small specials board, although to be honest the dishes didnt look that special Chilli Con Carne, Plaice & Chips and Chicken Balti strike me as run of the mill pub fare.

Beers on tap were all from the Greene King stable, with their IPA, Abbott Ale and Old Speckled Hen. Ciders were Blackthorn and Stowford Press.

First vist for over 6 years don't have the chicken in wine & mushroom sauce only one veg included very pricey drinks even soft ones when you think you can go to the masons arms at Rudgeway and help yourself to as much veg as you want for cheaper.

Gave this pub the benefit of the doubt......not a good move have continued to have a beer there but no more. Shame we have customers in our work trade that want good food and atmosphere...obviously the comments on the internet have not been taken notice of by the powers that be!!!!!! Have not been in the Harp for probably a month or so.......but hey its like we have never been away....still terrible bar staff service (have to say Emma is very good and most welcoming) but last time we went in.. the bar staff are now eating at the bar..not making room for customers... tables are not very often cleared for people who just want a drink.....what is going on......Moon and Sixpence maybe 80p dearer a pint but nice service......buck up HARP TEAM

Well what a nice location and a nice pub........have been going to the Harp now for probably a couple of years on and off...never had a problem with it until recently......(although have always noted that the ladies toilets do not smell very nice)....in the past all the bar staff have been very nice.....my partner and I do like the fact that when we walk in to a "local" the staff know what we want to drink.....we have never had any probs with the staff until about a month ago..made a very big observation that some of the staff if they have just finished work or are just in for a refreshment stand at the bar and chat with totally no consideration for customers....other customers(not staff) are in fact unable to get to the bar and when they eventually do...notice that daily regulars are served priority even if they have just reached the bar....how rude is that.....most pubs get trade on word of mouth from happy customers....would not recommend this pub for service at the bar...such a shame.....would much prefer the Star at Cleeve..great atmosphere, good beer and nice beer garden

The refurbishment is very well done, though you are paying for it in the costly but standard meals.
We've eaten in there several times but wouldn't go again.
The meals claim to be fresh...yes,out of the microwave.
Difficult to arrest the attention of the bar staff when ordering drinks so menu waving helps.

yes, went to this pub a few weeks ago, having heard that it had been overhauled. My instant impression on entering was not good my gastronomic senses dying whilst looking at the boards. There seemed plenty of staff about, but very little work or efficiency. Our three meals arrived,by two waitresses. The Breaded haddock, was Battered Cod,and the two scampi, lets just say the chips and the peas were of equal ammount to the Scampi.which is a new one on me,and no side salad or garnish, the drinks were pricey too,i found that the barperson was more interested in chatting rather than consume the 10-00 note i was flashing. All too often pubs like this appear high prices. frozen food badly presented, and staff that, are more important than the customer, enough said...

Having ate here recently I found the service awful. I stop waiting for a table for 15 minutes before one of the many waitresses acknowledged me.

The food and drink were very pricy. The food came quickly but was obviously not fresh.

Ok meal but the service leaves alot to be desired.

I have eaten there twice, unfortunately and the food is absolutely dreadful. My tuna was overcooked, despite me asking for it to be served 'blue' and it was not fresh. The broccoli florets were so old they were yellow.

My husbands pie was glutinous and bland.

Not sure about the choc jock angle but quite a variable clientele - all ages and types welcome. Beer normally pretty good. Food disappointing for the price. Lovely sun terrace when weather is good - views right across the channel to Welsh mountains.

Nice location, good beer, but the food is over-priced and not up to scratch
