user reviews of the Crown Inn, Ludgershall

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Always has been the best pub in Ludgershall the other one has two faced staff who take the piss out of the customers after they leave. They call one part of the bar Bullshit Corner, at least behind peoples backs when they leave. I have lived here for 40 years, take it from the me the Crown is the best in Ludgershall it always will be. In the Crown you are not judged you can live your life how you wish and there is no click. It has friendly genuine owners who are a dammed site better looking than the gross overweights in the Queens. Dont let people put you down behind your back use the Crown and leave the Queens for ones who are more easily conned.

There is only one way to settle this (albeit very long running) dispute. As Harry Hill would say, "FIGHT "!
I have occasion to pass through Ludgershall two or three times a week on my commute to and from home.
In the coming weeks I shall sample both boozers and report back to this site for a completetly unbiased appraisal of each establishment. I suspect this won't happen until the new year. Adios.

ok so were do i start when i first went in there i got evil eyes from the 2 female bar staff and after the massive effort of trying to get served i settled down to enjoy a peacefull drink in the corner only to hear unplesabt remarks about me from the bar staff i decided to go in there for a drink after hearing all sorts of inpleasent roumers i was willing to give the place a chance but i deeply regret it now and will never go in their again it seems to me that the land lady haasnt got a clue and the bar staff are unelcomeing and its obvious to me they do not like competition or outsiders. The unclean glases they use would be enough to put any one offf their beer they should run them through the dish washer once in a while but then they will probably come out dirtier. wwhen i go for a drink in a pub i expect to feel welcome and enjoy myself but i can honestly say that i expeirienced neither of theeese in the crowwn. my advice to any one thinking of useing the pub for the first time would be dont bother!

Well indeed! what a complete load of crap m8. Ive never heard so much crap in all my life. The real reason you went to the Crown was because you was banned from the queens for being drunk and incapable and you got banned for peeing on the carpet. I don't blame them for not wanting you in there, let's face it your only drinking hole is the crown, so u got no choice but to bring it up and try and get ur old m8's there for company.
It's not going to work because people will see for themselves what a true dump the rown realy is. You can't get it can you? it's full of squaddies letting off steam, which is fine because they are all in one place away from us. So you stick with the old squaddie pub where your most welcome, and stop putting up bullshit because you dident like being pushed out the queens. Get a job and a life asshole!

Well...

after being rudely told to f-off from the queens (local pub) because of myself complaining about the pint (found several floating bits of congelled yeast) i then stormed out with disgust and went to the Crown Inn.

From what i can see - the Crown is gaining more and more customers from the shear smiling/happy bar staff. You are always welcomed with a nice greeting - unlike someothers!!! This is the reason why i will taking my business to nice pub and my other followers. The pints are lovely. Although the stella glasses are a little odd - but never mind!

The weekends in this pub are good - i have only witnessed 1 friday and from what i have seen... its good. The DJ played good selection of songs, lots of friendly youths and regulars, no trouble, no udnerage drinkers, friendly door staff.

In all fairness i wouldnt have even stepped into this pub if it wasnt for the rude greeting i got at the Queens - but what can i say... Im glad they did in a way.

Really great atmosphere. Good entertainment and night life. Friendy staff. Friday and Saturday have great live entertainment. Also have 2 pool table and large TV screen showing sport. Total recommend this pub!

Definatly not suitable for children!!!

Used to be a regular pub for most of the young regulars in the village and has been for many years. Unfortunatly the new owners seem to attract more military customers than locals, and in my view this has changed the atmosphere of the pub in general.
I very rarly visit this pub as I prefer to go out to enjoy life, and not to end up in hospital!

No change, still overpriced beer and music loud enough to deafen you for days. Not conducive to a quiet drink. Can be very busy Fri/Sat nights due to 2am licence. Staff still rude and service very poor. Best avoided unless desperate!

Pub has improved greatly since new owners; being jeannette and malcolm cummins. Very friendly staff, and always welcoming! Great night on thursdays - pool night is a regular hit and the karaoke/disco on fridays and saturdays is the business. Live sport is well displayed on sizeable projectile!! All in all, a great pub!

Little good to say about this pub anymore, beer is overpriced, staff are inattentive or downright rude. Only redeeeming feature is the fact they have live sport on though little aside from football and a late licence. Otherwise one best avoided for now.

A lively and good pub with good staff. Although generally for the younger generation it caters for all ages. Karaoke attracts 18-70 year olds. Don't miss Alex (70+) on a Friday night. He will have you in tears! A bit like X Factor auditions.

Pub remains unchanged as loud modern big widescreen tv for football. Not a real ale pub and quite pricey for a village pub. Still it serves it purpose and has a late license until 2am Friday and Saturday nights with the usual attractions of disco and karaoke with Sunday afternoons being popular for watching the football.

Haven't been in there for 4 years. The previous owner put a large group of us off as he was rude and arrogant, and we are people in our 30's/40's living in the village. Prefer the Queens (opposite)

Rather noisy with wall to wall SKY TV and loud music. Weekly live entertainment. Not really my cup of tea, but the beer is good and I'm sure it will appeal to the younger drinker (or those who think they're stil young). Pool tables and fruit machines, with ample parking.

Very much a pub for the young (or those who think they are still young!). A noisy, lively place with wall to wall Sky TV, jukebox, pool and occasional live entertainment. A little on the pricey side, but generally sells a good pint (don't know about the Lager, can't stand the stuff). Decent sized car park, with a number of take aways in easy staggering distance.
