A charming establishment for a soothing early morning drop. A simply marvellous pint of Cameron's served at 9.30am by the landlady, who full of vigour and spritely virtue dispensed the ale as we welcomed the start of a new day. A certain joy de vivre permeates the establishment and the fellow drinkers festooned throughout the ample space allow one to reflect fondly on the charms of Darlington before a sorry parting and a return South via the railway station across the road.

Closest pub to Darlington station, a little bit barn-like in terms of size. Clientele not wine-bar types but never had any problems there, and it is, after all, a back-streets Darlington pub making no secret of its many big screens with Sky sports. Beer extremely cheap but all keg, so only gets 6/10 - given that Magnet, Cameron's and McEwans 80/ all come in cask form, might be worth them trying at least one handpump.

A dump of a pub full of scumbags its only good point is that its cheap but that accounts for them not being able to keep there beer properly

Heard it was bad but it's not! It's actually quite a nice pub and I dropped my phone without knowing and was handed it back , so they're not all thieves. Try it.

Not as rough as I thought it was going to be as I'd heard all the tales. Still, you won't find Middle Eastern politics or the downfall of the Iron Curtain being discussed at the bar. Very cheap though! Bar staff were most pleasant.

Well the cheapest pub in the land. Not a lot else to say.... Although it's the only place I've ever been locked in by the police against my will (Hartlepool fans outside)

Hogans is a large pleasant pub , situated near to the main train station in Darlington , offering a wide range of cheap alcohic drinks including Carling and Fosters Extra Cold , John Smiths Smooth , Magnet and Guinness .

Every Thursday night there is a live band playing , with music ranging from blues to ska , and soul to punk . A number of tribute outfits are often booked to play , too .

Hogans is an ideal place for a cheap day or night out , and the friendly bar staff will make you feel welcome , along with its variety of regulars .

A good friend of mine once said that he would rather pay a bit extra in order to enjoy a good pint in nice surroundings. It would be wise to use that philosphy in regard to Hogans.

I slipped out of Darlington Station one morning for a couple quick pints while waiting for the train, and found this pub directly opposite the station. Roomy and clean, just a couple of OAP punters around. Unfortunately no real ales at all, but the keg beers were incredibly cheap. The two bland keg Camerons beers I had also exist on cask, so get a couple handpumps in there, please! Some of us are even willing to pay a bit more for a good cask ale, you know!

Oh dear. I happened to get off the train at Darlington one day and wandered into this place. I gave it a rating of two, merely for the ridulously priced beer. All I can say is that I drank about half of it and gave it legs to another boozer elsewhere in the town. The folk inside looked like they had escaped from a high security facility and kept trying to sell me things from who knows where. Scary. One flew over the cuckoo's nest springs to mind.

Perhaps I am being a little harsh. The beer was ok (what I drank of it)the location was good for the East Coast main Line travellers amongst you and in fairness it is cheap, dirt cheap. Perhaps it is just I would rather pay more for my slurrrppp and feel comfortable in the knowlege that Neanderthal man is not lying in wait for me.

Best kept secret in the world. Britains cheapest pub (according to a survey by The Sun) serves Beer at under 1 a pint.

Populated largely by older men, but likely to have every form of human life at the weekend.

Opposite Darlington Bank Top Railway station, so well worth a look in while you wait for your connection
