This place is having an urgently needed re-fit.

Went in on Saturday evening, had to ask if they were open, only a couple of people in there.Small range of beers, only had John Smiths creamflow, and a few lagers. Sign outside says Pub To Let. Let's hope it improves if it gets taken over. There's a sign on the toilet doors saying "There is a 5 charge to use if you don't purchase anything from the bar" Plenty of room for improvement.

If you like crap, cheap, tacky, characterless, quiet pubs, this one's for you!

The Scottish barmaid Sandy is soooooo gorgeous!
Drink and eat here it is superb!
|
Dark and fairly grubby little bar with a joke of a beer garden.. Selection of beers terible and food average in both quality and value..
|
Most of the staff ok but one girl in particular needs to learn some manners and how to smile. Good mix of people though and like the set up

I can honestly say I have never had a worse pint than what I was served from the Cedar Tree - truly shocking!
|
Odd sort of place. Absolutely shocking range of beers on tap: 2 lagers, Smiths and Guinness. Great. Food seems reasonable (well, the chips were alright) and staff friendly enough. Loses marks for the grubby furniture. The question asked by one other reviewer still stands: what is this place trying to be? The obvious answer is "average".
|
Not sure if it's a pub. The food has got better, poor slection of beers and wines. Good pool table area at the backa nd it's quite cosy. It's certainly improved - oh and it has a pointless "beer garden"
|
Not recommended, used to have a great quiz, then the management changed. I got horrendous food poisoning (yes maybe I shouldn't have eaten duck in a pub) but when I called to warn them that they were trying to kill their customers, they were in denial to the point of being aggresively rude. Ok if you stick to beer and the pool table though.

Great pub especially since they introduced the Acoustic nights which have a really good atmosphere. Well worth going along to the next one in September.
|
Friendly staff - that makes such a difference. One of very few pubs in Putney that has genuine character and individuality, though perhaps not to everyones taste. Thumbs up.
|
Could be a very good bar, not a pub. Should concentrate on pursuing one avenue rather than several. Is a sports pub? or is it a trendy bar?or is it a gastro pub? Has the potential to really be a force in the fickle Putney area.

Came back from a 6 months holiday and ERIC is not there!!! Saw the new manager and not even want to know him, he was telling one of his staff off (right in front of everyone)... ok, we know that girl is not very clever, but we go there to have a good time, not to hear that sort of thing... bared myself for good... unless ERIC comes back!

Very good to watch football, or to have a drink with friends in a relaxed environment. An ok pub if you're a local but not worth a special trip.
|
As a customer of the Cedar Tree for a number of years there's been a few changes. The Cedar Tree is the pub to be in for a good atmosphere and decor. Also a good attraction is the pool table and the big screen. the new manager Lee mixes well with the locals, regulars and the passing trade. The bar staff I've got to say are the friendliest happiest bunch I've ever come across in a pub. They obviously get on really well and enjoy each others company as well as the customers.

Gone really downhill since the last manager eric left - bring him back!!!

Despite the obvious effort that went into the bar, one cannot help the feeling that it's not really a cool place. The decoration is very artistic, but does not match very well with drinks served out of tetrapacks. The staff looked bored and the kitchen had temporarily closed (Friday night, 8pm). If you look for a trendy background to pose yourself, you might enjoy it. Just make sure, you have eaten before you go there.

The best place ever! And it is so because of the manager, Eric. After he took over you can actually have fun there, the staff is the same , but it seems to be more happy now. Does he intent to get married one day??? First in the que!

I think the food here is excellent, Rick. before the new(ish) manager arrived it was absolute shite... but he has done a top job and its a thousand times better these days!!!

the urinal cakes probably taste better than the food served here but having said that they actually have a chef now instead of bar staff frying chips or nuking ready made dinners, otherwise very reasonable watering hole (although you will have to fight with Ann Marie to get a go on the pool table)

this place is brilliant! manager, staff, food, atmosphere etc couldn't be better! 10 out of 10.

I would not recommend hiring this bar for function. Not only did they fail to deliver on the late licence (which was pre-arranged when i booked, 2 months before the event), the food was cancelled (this was pre-ordered a week prior)and we were promised the whole bar but ended up competing with patrons watching rugby. A bit disppointing for my 30th birthday, especially as none of my DJs could be heard until the rugby had finished at 10pm & most of my guests had to queue for 15 minutes at the bar.

this place ROCKS. Great food, fantastic staff, quality beer(although a real ale would be nice) and the manager is one of the nicest blokes you could meet. Great sunday lunch watching the footie. 10 out of 10

thank god they've stopped doing that crap quiz on Sundays and started doing roast dinners instead...

I think this place is very nice - previous management were cool. Present manager seems distant. Nice atmosphere - friendly locals, nice barstaff. Dont rely on the negative comments.
