please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This is a solid pub for a good old fashioned pint and a chat. No food served; which is a bonus.

They have four real ales on, mostly Caledonians, one of which is always a "mad" rotational ale; latest is Lemon Ale. Never had a problem with the beer there.

Good landlord and landlady, always a cheerful welcome. Good mix of regulars, lads playing pool, darts players, students and us old uns.

If you want food go to the Red Lion, which isn't the best place for a pint, otherwise the Greyhound's the one.

Trev should maybe re-visit The Greyhound. The missing sign is now back - it was apparently being refurbished. The beer is very good - and what is wrong with Greene King? There is also normally a guest beer which changes monthly - Old Peculier and Pedigree were both great. The natives are friendly and the background music is varied - you can even bring in your own cd's and ask for them to be played!! They don't serve food!! Shock, horror - it's a real pub. Yes, The Red Lion has been refurbed and is now a lovely gastro pub. But if I was looking for a real pub then it would be The Greyhound every time.

Old pub that's seen better days. The inn sign is missing. The inside badly needs a refurb. The reception you get is polite but not warm. Slightly over-loud music as an attempt to compensate! The loos are outside. No sign of any food. Two of the beers are Greene Kings but the others are very acceptable. So this is fine if you're looking for a gritty old English pub; but if you want something classier, go to the Red Lion!

I'm really sorry, but I have to disagree with oldboots on the state of the real ale at the Greyhound. Since the new landlord took over last year, the place has been transformed. Regular live music from local artists, a friendly bunch of locals, and superbly kept beer are what keeps me coming back to this pub.

Two old cottages knocked through to give a large single open internal space that doesn't quite work. A pool table, dart boards and TV take up most of one end with comfortable seating around the remaining parts. Dcor is plain white walls with a few brewery mirrors and some old photos of the village and some of the customers/pub events. Beers from Greene King, Marstons, Wadworths and Deuchars as well as a fairly standard keg range. The Deuchars I had was definitely lacklustre and not long for this world.
