Paid a visit here last week to take advantage of a meal deal. It's a Beefeater. The food was nothing special and the interior is a little run down. It's more of a restaurant than a pub. I certainly wouldn't come here only for a drink and doubt I'd ever return for a meal either. I'd like to say there's better options in the area. But sadly there isn't.

Went there last night for a double anniversary celebration with my hubby, sis and her hubby.
Meal was not up to standard at all...everything was overcooked.
My chicken was dry...hubbies sea bass was like rubber...sis's steak was like shoe leather and bro-in-laws wineglass dirty.
My cajun prawn starter was bland....
At least sis and her hubby had a reduction for their meal (half price) and bro-in-law got a FREE GLASS of WINE!
Pub itself was deserted...as a very rare frequenter of pubs, I do not know if this was due to the no smoking or the recession or some other factor.
Won't be going back!

Been going here on & off for about 20+ years, mainly because it's a good place to meet.
It's not somewhere to spend the whole evening.

didnt think much of the food, beer tasted good though

not too bad. food is ok, a little over priced if anything but they have no idea how to cook a steak. one complaint was on new years eve, i was still sobre enough to catch out the barmaid who tried to take nearly TRIPLE the correct amount off my card for one round of drinks assuming i was wasted and wouldnt notice. was too busy and shell shocked to kick up a true fuss but have not forgotten. she went a bit red and tried mumbling an excuse though no apology. theiving cow!!! check the amount before signing or chipping and pinning!

Well, been there got the t-shirt. The food is particularly mediocre - for people who don't know proper food and will pay silly amounts for it.
Go to Flynn's for food - miles better.

The place has been redesigned on the outside and inside, so a vast improvement has hopefully taken place. Marginally better on the outside, although the designer was possibly colourblind, and the inside is pretty good by all accounts.
A booking for dinner has been made to check it out. Watch this space...

I must say I agree with grim-one this pub is dire, when recently staying in the Travel Inn, we went and got a curry in the Grapes Tandori just to get a drink in some comfortable surroundings. Unfortunately we did not get a refund.

Eastern European ladies of the night...are you sure? I live down that road which is quite out of the ordinary, and haven't ever seen one. I know the pub is not a gem but it's hardly that bad...
However, I agree the pub is awful, on first glance it looks nice, but inside it's small with awful carpet and decor, and it's very blokey. You would have 1 drink prior to the restaurant...at a push

Oh dear, what a place. Had to stay in the adjacent Travel Inn. Got a full refund thank goodness.
Very little in the way of seating. Very nicely polished hand pumps, shame there was no real ale to come out of them, what's the point of that?
The staff certainly got shot of the 2 eastern European ladies who wanted to do business!
