Average beer quality but good service.

As an ex-pat Stocktoner I liked this pub even a decade back. Was in a few times Xmas a year ago - its the best pub in Stockton by far even though its a shitty JDW - is it the pubs or the peeps that make drinking out in Teesside such a crap experience ???

The beer quality is fantastic, what a difference a good manager can make-local CAMRA pub of the year, can't argue with that.

I liked this Wetherspoons both for service and cleanliness. Beer choice was good, and the Ossett On the Piste and Fernandes Great Northerner both in good condition. I would say someone has real ale interest as they are currently showcasing beers from Ossett Fernandes and Riverhead.

The Beer quality HAS 'gone down like a drunk'.The excuse'it takes a lot of looking after' was trotted out.bah.

I believe the regeneration on the ales in the TS had a great deal to do with a duty manager called Phil Heather, unfortunatly he has been moved on again so i expect we will see the standards drop again.

I used to find a visit to the TS very dispiriting but over the last 9 months ,or so,the beer quality has dramatically improved,so much so,I can hardly believe it!--whats responsible? a new manager?-whatever the reason, its a good result.Feel sorry for the hard worked(short)staff(ed)situation. They deserve better.

The shortage of staff seems to be Wetherspoons policy, it is the same in all their pubs.

The Thomas Sheraton must be praised on the improvements it has made over the last 6 months, The quality and selection of ale is excellent, only problem is sometimes we see too many larger brews like the Directors, Old Peculier, Abbott and Spitfire. I have spoken to one of the mangers personally and he is trying to cut these down so we have more Micro beers. They have also had two ales made exclusively for the Thomas Sheraton which is good to see. Also the general cleanliness has improved. this makes for a nice enviroment.
My only down sides are like everyone else, the service tends to be quite slow, this i dont think can be contributed to the workload of the staff but more the amount of staff, as with any big business staffing is alwasy the first cut back. I remember about 6 years ago when you would have 12/15 people working a weekend night, unfortunatly now they have about 6/8.
Keep up the good work all at the Thomas Sheraton

Very standard old-man wetherspoons. Beer isn't quite as badly kept as the middlesbrough branch, but in this case as in most wetherspoons quality is made up for in quantity with a good selection. Just a very average wetherspoons pub. But thats not a bad thing. As someone said, it has more potential.

Good selection of reasonably priced ales. Slow service though, and of course the obligatory Stockton losers can be found propping up the bar 24/7. Good place to start a night out though.

Nice atmosphere in this one, but no music. Cheap drinks, the sort of place you go to have a few before you go clubbing. Service is a bit slow though, can be standing at the bar for a while before you get noticed. Bit more upmarket

This pub has alot more potential than it lives up to, although in an area which lacks style and charm the Thomas Sheraton provides a service which is not matched anywhere else in the town. Once Phil (shift manager) was moved out to Darlington the standard of real ales was nothing more than poor. but with his anticipated return we can expect to see a wide selection of good quality house and guest ales. I for one can't wait for the summer months to sample my favourite Harviston - Schallieon.

this is a nice pub. there is no music so if you want music then dont go to this pub. it has a great choice of beers. the worst thing about this pub is getting served. the bar staff are really slow and dont seem to try and serve people in order. they have got over zealous with asking people for id recently. my mates girlfriend got asked for id and she is 24. the toilets are pretty clean for a town centre pub.

How could I forget about this pub? I've had a few nice beers in here over the years... It's a Wetherspoons, so you more-or-less know what to expect, but as they go, it's not a bad one. At least it was still pretty good when I last visited in the Summer of 2003. It used to be a court, but no more...
Going in through the front doors shows you some freestanding tall tables and chairs, behind which is the bar, extending to the far end of the pub. To your left is a good seating area, divided in two by an open fire, while a non-smoking section (with a slight library disguise) is to your right. At the back of the pub are two more seating rooms (one of which is no-smoking again), while above you is the old Court Gallery. You can get onto the Gallery / Balcony by heading through the doors on either your left or right.
Served is the usual Wetherspoons fare of decent handpulls and well-known smoothflows. Not bad for a bit of a sesh... :o)
