This was the one that had the Christmas tree up in mid October. A bit previous, as you might say. Beer was all right though and the pub is capacious.

Formerly a pub of a more traditional bent (save for the Thai restaurant that was incorporated there), the process of gastrofication is almost complete – almost, because the area around the actual bar has ostensibly been left to the drinkers (and the garden too). The rest of the pub is defined by the food served here, the room towards the rear particularly so. Books occupy the shelves, as if people might go there to read them. A glazed cavaedium adjoins this staid edifice to the pub's core, its decor suggesting Morocco, or something Byzantium. The overall effect is of a hotel bar opening out into a restaurant, but with enough architectural curve balls to dampen the effect. If you can stomach the overbearing smell of meat, the place just about gets away with it. 7/10

A few years ago this place suffered a radical overhaul, and I feared the worse. Such apprehension has proved to be completely unfounded. There’s too much emphasis on food, for sure, and the flock furnishing can be a little overbearing. But at night the light is set low and the place is open and broad enough to satisfy a variety of fancies. The garden area is just splendid, and the building itself presents a satisfying visage. That all said, this more contemporary iteration of the Coach and Horses still lacks something, and that something is that feeling of being in an actual pub – it could almost be a hotel bar-come-restaurant. An 8 for the effort, though.

This place is the pitz.
The service is slow, the prices are high and the manager has no idea of customer service. The staff sit around chatting, and we wait..... I've been there a few times and have found it really lacking in presence. The atmosphere is sterile, unless you're part of a large party, you're not welcome. The experience I had was one of being in an expensive, snobby establishment. But, this pub is no more than an expensive Witherspoon.

One word "superb"

Prepare to be dazzled when you step through the door. From the quaint and attractively old-fashioned shaped bar to the sumptuous dining room with its mirrors and candles the Coach & Horse oozes opulence and charm at every turn. Service is by the general manager Karens handpicked team which is friendly, honest & on the ball. If the weathers good, head out to the sizeable garden and the fish barbeque on a weekend. A world away from a hard core booze pit, this erstwhile coaching house has been reborn as a premier-league pub. The elegant, sinuous bar serves good real ales, various lagers and a super pint of Guinness It offers upscale bar snacks and nibbles, but its the Youngs extensive range of real ales that really set the drinkers pulse racing. Karen and her team definitely have a real and deep seated passion for serving the best food, cask ales and wines around in the area as we have experienced on more than a few occasion over the last months We had the same delicious menu and rinks served throughout the pub and garden terrace on sunny days. Karens menu only uses the freshest ingredients to which the chefs are producing mouth-watering dishes. The Coach and Horses also have a very cosy and romantic candle lit dining room & contemporary glass atrium. When it is very busy we sometimes settle down in the lounge bar or the snug as aptly named by the staff to enjoy a drink and friendly chat with the staff I have found that the wine list will tempt even the most discerning palate and it compliments all the food very well! Happily, the kitchen keeps up with thirsty and hungry customers like I, producing a cracking menu of starters (crispy pig ears) and a good selection of mouth-watering mains dishes. Desserts are still to die for and are fiendishly hard to ignore when visiting.

Came here a couple of times before it was refurbished and thought it was fairly average. Went back last night as they had put a 10 off food voucher through my door. Really impressed by what theyve done with the place and had an excellent meal. The amount of cash splashed on the refurbishment has clearly been considerable. There is now a larger beer garden and a new dining hall which is connected to the old building by an annex which has a glass front allowing lots of sunlight in. Particular praise goes to their use of lighting which achieves the not inconsiderable feat of combining a bright welcoming place for groups of drinkers with ample nooks and crannies for quieter times. They had Bath Ales Bitter on tap where I was there and also had Youngs Double Chocolate stout in the fridge which is always a bonus.
The food on offer looked tremendous, generally generous portions and very well put together. I had the fillet steak which a little steep at 20 was worth it with every bite. My only minor gripe being the chips which were a little on the thin side and tended towards being more like crisps than chips. Very pleasant bar staff and all round an excellent evening. Its a shame that the pub is right under the Heathrow flight path and next to the main road. Sadly these facts would lead me to seek one of the pubs closer to the river on a hot day, but for dinner, quality atmosphere and good drink then Ill be frequenting this place more often.

jazzinlondon.net states that the C&H will be refurbished early Oct. Look fwd to visiting next year to hear some excellent jazz from Trevor Tomkins & co., drink reasonably priced ale and admire the good taste of the sensitive refurb.

I feel the comments below slightly harsh. The Coach has had numerous owners in the last few months, but hate campaigns from various locals doesn't help anybody, net alone the pub trade. If people have issues, then maybe just speak at the time they have issues, rather than just dragging their dirty laundry out in the public. BikeymanT is correct, pubs are closing at a rate of knots, but slandering places ain't really going to help anybody.

Was once a great pub but have to agree with comments below. The new manager is a nasty piece of work, and I have witnessed him standing behind the bar calling his customers terrible names.
Get Rid!
Not a nice Guy at all!

Very good pub. Excellantly kept ales and jazz on a Monday.

Young's pub that is bigger than it looks at first site with one bar area around a central bar and another larger area with plenty of tables and chairs. Young's Special & Ordinary plus Well's Bombarider were all available. Seemed to be popular amongst rugby fans who were in to watch the England match.
|
This is a nice little pub, which I found when going to see a friends band play a gig. There is a nice little beer garden, they serve Youngs Ale (including Winter Warmer at the time of writing) and its free entry on music nights.
Ive been on Saturdays to some of the rock music nights, and have seen some outstanding concerts there.
I understand that there are also jazz nights on Mondays.
Well worth a visit if youre in the area.

Went here on Saturday night after the Rugby at Twickenham. Thought they'd be busier, but they had a nice atmosphere, open fire, friendly staff and good range of Young's beers. Also witnessed a great live band called "Disciples" who made sure we hung around much later than we planned. Recommended.
|
I love this pub!! Being a Young's house, it goes against my usual Fullers pub, but I'll always make an exception for here. The beers are excellent and well presented, the food excellent and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Well worth a visit if you're in the area

I popped in here to escape the rain earlier this afternoon and I was the only patron. I found the staff to be very hospitable and my pint of Youngs Ordinary was OK. Special was also available along with some standard lagers, but the Bombardier was off.
The side of the pub nearest to the entrance is quite nice, but the bar and dart board area needs some cleaning up and maybe the TV needs to come off the table and onto the wall. I still liked it in here even though the music was a little loud for lunchtime.
There is some seating outside in between the pub and the car park and some of this is covered. Whilst having a crafty cigarette I noticed a reasonably sized function type room out the back with a small bar and a piano.
Im not very likely to pass here again, but if I do I will pop in if possible.

I love this pub....!!! Its a real pub....
|
They have fine Jazz here every Monday run by drummer Trevor Tomkins, the 24th of september is recommended as it features bassist Jeff Clyne and guitarist John Etheridge, so if you want fine ale and fine music what more could you ask for.
|
According to the local CAMRA website, this pub is due to be converted to a hotel soon. Although, looking from the road, I don't think it will be a Young's hotel conversion as the pub is up for sale. Sad.

Went to this pub while waiting for the train one day last week. Seems a really young team of management, but lovely barstaff who will definately go the extra mile for you. Lovely interior, it's a really homely, cosy pub. The food is provided by G2, (Greedies two) and was good value. All in all, great pub which I'll go back to for sure

russian beer - not a slight you see often, bonus points for that
|
Hadn't been here in a while but popped along to see Eric Bell Band last Saturday night (having known his name for 30 years but never seen him) and had a really good night. Very nice local atmosphere at this pub, friendly punters, excellent staff and a great pint of Youngs Special. Thoroughly enjoyed myself and reccomend this pub. Even though I came from Twickenham, the 267 took me straight there and back, so easy to get to.

Traditional Youngs pub on the main road out of Brentford. Nice outside drinking area. Pub had live music on Friday night - it was overly loud and, fearing for my ear drums, I beat a hasty retreat which was a shame as the Youngs was good and I always like doing this one.
This pub got mentioned by Charles Dickens - not many people know that as Michael Caine would say
|
Went there last Friday night to see a band called Disciples. Good atmosphere, great band. Good food and beer. What more can you expect?

Rebel Yell says thanks to Derek for a great venue with lots of fun when they play. 29th October for the next rockin' gig Barbs

It's all about Derek - he's fantastic, he knows how to run a pub, he has good bands on constantly, the food is bloody gorgeous and selection of beers are very satisfactory.
Enough said I reckon.
|
Enjoyed a meal at their restaurant (G2 it's called) the other night. Food's good. Ambience could do with turning up a notch or two. As for the beer - I asked for 'Ordinary' but the bill said 'Special' and since Youngs watered down the special they're so similar. Whatever it was, it cost 2.55 a pint which is on the high side of acceptable. But that said, the total bill was very reasonable.
