Good down to earth pub, serving the usual suspects but doing it well. Friendly service and a very nice beer garden.
Long may it survive.

Good cold beer. Friendly local pub . Good location near station.

In reference to my previous review. I was not referring to the manageress / landlady of the Horns Tavern.

Unlike my other review in this area, this is a pub good atmosphere, good selection of food either bar snacks or mains. If you like sports this pub as it all. It must say something when the staff from another pub drink here regularly. Also it was pleasant to see that the manageress was not drunk before her customers.

Reasonable local. Sells tea and decent coffee at a very good price, as well as hot rolls etc. Could do with a facelift but not a bad pub at all.

This is a two bar pub with a pool table, couple of plasma screens and a projector in the public bar and three plasma screens and a sandwich serving area in the other bar. Sky Sports was being shown throughout the pub during my week night visit, but it was muted as the ear bashing music being played at an excessive volume in the public bar was inescapable even in the quieter section.
The two hand pumps are unused and there is only a standard draught selection, but my Guinness was nice enough. I found the barmaid/landlady to be very brash, but the barman was nice enough and I had no problems with the boisterous locals.
Ill not be rushing back to this pub again.

Moved to this area a couple of years ago, and was initially struck by how horrible I thought all the pubs were. This place has become the 'regular' though. The locals are all guys who appear to have lived round here for years, but are all nice blokes who will make you welcome. If that sounds patronising, it isn't meant to be. The landlady is great. Staff are friendly, and there's always something going on. Totally changed my opinion on it. Wouldn't go anywhere else round here now.

No real ale on. Both pumps had London Pride clips turned round. No real ale on the last time I looked in as well.

Its a local pub for me. Could do with some minor cosmetic work to the outside - the brown glazing is shocking and a real off putting factor when applying pub by station * not being able to see inside = elsewhere equation.
Give it a few more beer choices and it could be the finest proper local for miles around - pool table, poker games and cheapish beer all add up to a decent place.

Probably the best local I've had.
I don't smoke but I do sometimes wonder what'll happen to the place after 1 July...
Will report back.

great pub but gets to smokey roll on 1st july

A sad lack of real ale lets this place down; otherwise it would be a decent local.

This pub is friendly with lots happening, from Karaoke on a Sunday to pool competitions, excellent online quiz & Texas Holdem poker which is worth checking out. Food available at all times never too much trouble, recommend the pizzas for 4 & the best sandwich to be had made fresh when you order. The lager is always a great pint. What more can I say a must to visit. anonymous 20th Oct 2006

Would echo the earlier comment - it's a lot more friendly than it looks. Typical Sarf London boozer - when the blonde barmaid wears a T-shirt, it's a winner.
Played pool and watched footy here with no trouble, Carling Extra Cold served in labelled glasses. Just opposite West Norwood station, too.

what can I say: THE PLACE TO MEET!

A small pub that some people may find rather threatening at first. But it's actually very cosy and friendly. Despite being in a dodgy area I have never had any trouble in there and the staff are all fantastic. I must recomend the Karaoke on Sunday nights. Outstanding atmosphere.
