With the nearby Earl Haig no longer opening until 11:30, we moved onto the Yacht, only to find that still closed at 11:10 too. But, it turned out that the landlord had forgot to unlock the door! This is a Greene King pub, with 3 of their ales - IPA, Abbot & London Glory, along with St Austell Tribute. The London Glory was ok. But, this wasn't the best selection. The landlord was friendly and talkative though. So much so that we missed our bus back into the town! The interior is bright and airy and is quite comfortable.

I feel I have to reassess my previous review and grade, going by the last few visits in recent months. I said that the beer is well kept and pulled, which still remains the case. No problems there. The food is reasonably priced and of so-so quality - chips often cold but other than that it's ok for the money.
I also said that the staff were friendly and helpful. This is true - in part. Sadly, a handful of the staff are really letting this place down. The kitchen staff in particular and some of the younger bar staff (and the manager at times) act in such an unprofessional manner it beggars belief. Running in and out of the kitchen, chasing each other, swearing, all around the main dining area where people are trying to enjoy their lunches or dinner.
Come on guys, pull yourselves together. I'm amazed the manager or landlady haven't pulled the other staff up on this as it really adversely affects the quality of experience here. Mind you, the landlady herself isn't the most cheerful of characters and both her and the bar manager are often witnessed in disagreements with customers. Ho hum.

not my sort of pub too busy and noisy but the drinks are cheap and the food extremely cheap but not of the highest quality although it was all served quickly and was perfectly edible my children enjoyed it all. i expect we will visit again but not in a rush. just like to say i thought the staff were all ok and attentive.

We love the Yacht, we've been drinking and eating there for years, my kids love it, great new flaming grill menu, our med rare steaks always cooked perfect and all the food is cooked fresh, not like some pubs when they ding every thing, if there is a wait we always order starters. love the real ale, london pride my favourite so keep it on please. We have always found the management and the staff to be great to us, we speak as we find and we find this the best pub in bexleyheath. go the yacht!

We visited this pub on a Saturday afternoon and found it was very busy and difficult to get a drink. The food was cheap and tasteless, and there was a strong smell of cannabis in the garden. The pub itself is very dirty, and the landlady is very rude! I will not be returning. I used to be a regular in this pub about 10 years ago, such a shame it has gone downhill.

I have been a reg for the last 2 years at the Yacht, myself my husband and 2 children are in there once sometimes twice a week with our friends for dinner. Last saturday night we over stayed the time limit for the kids of 9.30, we didnt realise the time and all the staff were still playing with the kids as they are known by the staff ! The land lady came over to my husband demanding to know why these kids were still in the pub in the most rudest manor, my husband responded in not an aggressive manor that we didnt realise the time and she proceeded to be rude about us knowing her rules !!!! My husband then turned to the bar manager who we know well and said that the landlady was rude and was going to loose customers talking like this !! she then responded with " custom like yours we dont need " We got our children and left ! My girlfriends had arrange to meet up for a drink in this pub for xmas ! we walk in and she asks us were our husband were and that they were no longer welcome in there !!! Needless to say i didnt even take my coat off, i just walked from the pub with my very upset children !! Never have i met such a rude and miserable lady ! this woman has no people skills or manners ! the rest of the staff are lovely and very welcoming ! how she has run this pub for so long is beyond me ! I know im not the only one who feels this about The Yachts Landlady

Not a bad pub if you're after low cost tasty grub and a few pints. Recently undergone a refurb (although it still seems pretty similar to me). Three hand pumps offering well-kept ales, and a healthy selection of lagers and wines to keep most people happy. Not the world's cheapest bar, but certainly not too expensive either. I'm sure there used to be more hand pumps offering ales before the refurb though... Worth a visit if you're with a group or family most definitely. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Love The Yacht, always drink there on a Sunday night and maybe through the week for lunch, Food always top notch, toilets are always clean and tidy, bar staff always friendly, chatty and welcoming a credit to the management. Would definitely recommend, and if you dont want to wait for food maybe go at different times to the 'rush hour'.

I used to drink in this pub ten years ago, I didn't mind it - but being a late teen early drinker - appreciating pubs wasn't really my thing at the time. Although I did start drinking Smiths here. Anyway, have been here twice as of late - to be fair, its not really bad but definately below average. It doesn't have a good atmosphere, obviously down to personal perception, but to me, it really doesn't. Whether its the locals or bar staff, nothing really makes me think - this is a nice pub to be in. I don't want people popping open Champagne, I don't like Champagne! However, it is very much a feeling of if your face fits. It has the usual beers and lagers, nothing to write home about. The food is the usual, probably on par with Weatherspoons, same kind of selection and quality. Overall, not bad, but not a place I'd drink in even if it was convenient.

nice pub and food

All new staff, great service with a smile, food great value, real ale well kept and they now have the beautiful beer platinum award and cask marque award. no sky sports, but more of a family food pub now, but still has a great atmosphere, The Yacht is certainly sailing again.

Come on guys i wouldn`t wait 20 mins to collect a lottery win let alone a pint and as for an hour for food sod that(let your feet do the talking and walk away),i travel this area and taken note of all the comments below so next time i`m in Bexleyheath i`m sure i`ll make straight for this gaff to eat and drink!!!!! YER RIGHT.
|
Got to be the worst pub in bexleyheath, very poor service, waited over 20 mins to get served a drink and waiting over an hour for our food to be served. The price of beer is expensive and not very good at that. Plenty of other pubs in bexleyheath to visit so avoid this one at all costs.Only ok points is the decor is and there is a garden for kids to play in.
|
The service is poor and you will probably find yourself walking down the road to another pub, possibly the travellers.
|
Not one i'd bother with again, a big, soulless barn of a place with service that's pushing the boundaries of 'appalling' if the place is any more than half-busy. Very average beers.
|
if I have to wait for a meal for over an hour, and then another 20 minutes for a piece of cake again, you can bet I'm going to McDonalds for food first. The atmosphere was quite nice though
|
The atmosphere was very nice, but the service SUCKS!Imagine waiting over an hour for a meal both times we've been in,and 20 minutes for a piece of cake afterwords. In a nutshell,we WON'T be back for love or money.2 thumbs down!

Pub chain fittings and layout. Family food. Anonymous, but large and comfortable. Youngs Special on cask. Decent condition.
|
This pub has the potential to be fantastic...
The problem being some of the staff let it down (I wont mention names)
And I agree with mark the old yacht was alot more desireable than the new

The Yacht pub is great for a casual evening out with ya mates or for the sports. It has 3 widescreen TVs which gives a great atmosphere for the sports, and the bonus is, no children are allowed near them. Or the pool tables!! Although, personally, if u have kids, the rest of the pub is not a daytime creche anyway!Plus, ya staff are gorgeous!!!

I preferred this pub when it was the grotty Yacht of old. Much more cosy, plus the Sunday Dinners were ace then.
Still not a bad place for a tipple but gets a bit cold in winter!
