Similarly to the Ox Row the pub doesn't have to fight for trade but is good for all that if a bit expensive for ale. Food sampled was pleasant and ok for the money.

Posh sort of place with seating in the Market Square, if the weather is kind. Hardly a pub, more European café. My pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord (3.80) was excellent however, and service good. One bar bloke had done a gap year in Australia & had worked in parts of the country I was familiar with, so the time was passed pleasantly enough.

First pub that we called in Salisbury. Enjoyed a pint of TT Landlord, looking out over the Market Square.

Haven't been in since refurb. It isn't a pub as drinkers might like it, but it seems popular with shoppers! Doom Bar was average but too pricey. No character just another banal designer pub but fine if that doesn't bother you.

Over-priced "poncey" pub. Doombar and T Taylor was OK

The Manager of the nearby Ox Row said the pub is due to open following the massive fire with the resulting rebuild and refurb on 10 July. The hoardings are now down and the pub looks very nice from the outside.
|
It's obviously an improvement. Let's hope they rebuild it, and put someone in there who has some interest, skill & motivation.

Burnt down

Conveniently located on the Market Square but a disappointing pub.
The ales were Ringwood Best and Doombar but both were in poor condition and served way too cold.
The food was little better - served remarkably quickly (always a bad sign) with watery vegetables and something that must have still been in the freezer when we had walked in to the pub, making only a cursory visit to the microwave before its (first) trip to the table.
There are better alternatives in the neighbourhood, including the Ox Row a couple of doors down.

Visited Salisbury on Sunday and found this real gem of a pub!
The beer was in very good condition, the Sunday Roast was the best I had eaten in years. No processed food, and very generous portions.
Lastly, the bottle of white wine that I ordered to accompany our lunch was perfectly chilled.
Would definitely go back, even just for the lunch!

Visited this pub yesterday with a friend for lunch. Very pleasant staff and the service was quick and friendly. The meal was excellent and we had a very nice couple of hours there. The whole time we spent there was very enjoyable and we will certainly be going there again.

Visited this pub yesterday. Rubbish. Spent ages waiting for someone to take our food order (pratting about behind the bar and ignoring us). Main course was brought out - no starters!!!! Enquired where the started were, we were apologised too and asked if we still wanted the starters - main meal was only luke warm anyway, so would've been cold by the time they had sorted out starters. The one and only time I have had battered scampi ....... Shame really as nice looking pub in a good location.

Good pint of Ringwood bitter, but the food was overpriced, and garbage. Why can't people who cook in pub kitchens cook a rare steak? Also, my companion had the ham, eggs and chips, which, she assures me had some way to go to attain the "mediocre" standard.
|
Two ales on, my pint of Oakleaf Bitter was well-kept and served at the right temperature. Food was good value for money, being both cheap and well-cooked. Staff were friendly and showed great patience with the irritatingly loud tourists.
Although not brilliant, this is a good town centre pub I'd be happy to drink in.

Pleasant enough place but geared up for diners rather than drinkers. Only one guest ale on when I visited - menu is nothing out of the ordinary for a pub that thinks it's a restaurant.

the only dissapointing pub on our recent visit to salisbury, only one ale on served in short measures and when we asked for a top up it was such a big sigh we got that we almost awarded an oscar
|
A much improved venue. On my last visit, St Austell tribute was on - a great pint!
|
Friendly enough and couple of nice ales available. Good central place, near bus station, to meet and sit outside and get the 'flavour' of Salisbury Market Square.
|
This pub is okay but not really my kind of place.
|
Bit of a gastropub. Small drinking area and large eating area. We were put off by the toothless locals propping up the bar.
|
agree with j...shabby looking. decent

Home pub for the Salisbury City FC travelling army. Friendly locals pub, Mike the landlord is a top man. Always a guest ale alongside the Summer Lightning and Ringwood. Any away fans making a day of it in Salisbury, feel free to drop in for a beer on a saturday lunchtime.
|
shabby looking inside. friendly landlord, but drinks not well presented and not in particularly good nick. nice range of real ales.
