A very strange place indeed.....used this pub on an on and off basis for years.
Food is excellent and the beer is well kept with quick service even when very busy, the bar staff mostly think they are heading for the big time and far to good for their jobs,.
To the left of the bar is a large bunch of middle aged bigots and to the far right a bunch of wannabe millionaires with attitude.
The few normal punters tend to sit or stand in the middle and avoid conversation at all costs with the groups to the right or left , not a problem as this is a very unfriendly pub and its unlikely anyone will talk to you anyway.
At the rear is a delightful little garden but it is used as a staff youth club and is full of drunken youngsters who i would suggest are not just of there heads on alchopops......
There is an air of violence from the malel members of these groups and constant screaming from the girls that will pierce your eardrums...during the winter this rabble move inside and on a recent visit my 6 year old had to listen to constant use of the f and c word by one drunken yob who was falling over spilling his red wine over people .Not a nice way to enjoy your Sunday lunch.
We tried the breakfast once and at 11am on a Sunday morning the staff were slaughtered and again had the rabble with them falling over all over the place....shocking
Pitshanger lane is a lovly family area and this pub used to be fantastic and could be again but until they clear out the idiots The Kent up the road is more refined and wont tolerate anti social behavior.
On a final note everyone should be allowed to have fun especially the young but when it interferes with everyone elses enjoyment this is wrong!
I wll score a four for the quick service ,good ale and excellent food, will hope if i ever go back things have changed.

I didn't find anything particularly special about this pub located in a quiet residential area of North Ealing. As previously stated, Pride & Tribute are the 2 ales served. I opted for the latter and it wasn't in the best of conditions. The interior is fairly modern looking and it was reasonably busy on my Sunday evening visit. Not really worth making the journey out here for.

A village inn for village idiots.

Been called the Village Inn now for a few years, but still known as Duffys.
Now always has London Pride and Tribute on hand pump, and one guest beer - currently Doom Bar.

Monday night is quiz night, and it has happy hour 6-8pm on Thursdays.

Always friendly and a good local.

Ian went to a pub in near exmoor called the Miners Arms (? Spelling, it was a long time ago) with two Duffy's regulars Jan & Dave.

Good range of beers - I always enjoy the Tribute. The food has been variable in the past but is definitely very good at the moment - they try to support local producers and suppliers which is appreciated. Bar staff clearly take pride in their work, service is always prompt and if there is a delay because of a long round before you they acknowledge you are there. I don't go in that often but one in particular knows my "usual". Can't understand other negative comments on this page about the locals - I've always found them willing to chat and have a laugh with.

this place has recently been done up and renamed "the village inn". they've shortened the bar to create a bit more space, given it a paint job and changed the furniture.

the range of ales is good (2 adnams, spitfire, tribute and pride) but they never quite hit the mark. they are always just that tiny degree short of being top notch beers.

as for the locals, i've been an irregular here for many years and have never had a problem with them. it is one of only two pubs in this part of deepest suburbia and it attracts a sizeable group of people from the local community. most of them know each other and like to occupy the same piece of floor space and talk to the same people when they're in there.

so what if they don't talk to people they don't know? so what if they eye a stranger up and down? they're not obliged to lay out the red carpet and throw a party for every new comer who walks through the door.

they create space at the bar for people waiting to get served and they don't stab you if you look at them sideways. that's good enough for me.

The locals here take the absolute piss. A bunch of self-proclaimed experts on everything, who sit at the bar all day getting hammered. They are so up themselves its amazing;God knows why. Maybe its because they are in a 'wine bar'. I wish I could feel so superior by just getting hammered and talking a whole load of bollox.Pathetic.

This pub has gone up and down. Recently, the food has definitely taken a turn for the better. The beers are ok but there seem to have benn a lot of maangement changes in the last few years. It's really a case of giving it a bit of time. At the moment I would say there are worse places to go in Ealing but better ones too.

I was persuaded to try Duffy's again to get something to eat and was very pleasantly surprised! The meal I had was excellent and the manager is like a different person in the dining area, he was actually friendly. Still not convinced it's a place I would chose to go for a pint or two, the locals are still not the friendliest, but maybe there is room for hope?

Dead unfriendly place, if it was a film set the piano player would stop as you enter. OK selection of beers, but the locals and staff act as if they are in a competition to see who can be the most offhand with newcomers. The locals usually win, just. There are far better pubs in Ealing than this dismal dump.

great beer but the locals are totally upo themselves

Great place to go for a pint. Also close to a great kebab shop on Pitshanger lane. Beer is a bit pricey for a local boozer though.

i used to work in this pub less than a year ago and im sorry to say it seems to have stooped below the standards that i worked under. as ever the bar is divided into 3 with the grumpy old men (with a few exceptions as some of the guys were really friendly) at the end near the door, the clicky regulars and the other end, and all the new people who look rather lost, standing in the middle. the staff have all changed and generally seem rather surly and quite unhelpful not to mention one dark haired girl who cant pour a pint to save her life. everyone else just looks miserable.its a shame as the prices are more reasonable than the kent but now with no stella and the food quality dropping theres not much reason to go anymore!!!! sorry guys!

When I moved to the area I heard stories about this pub being a bit "local" and unfriendly to people who weren't Pitshanger born and bred. However, I've experienced none of this and have always found it to be a lovely place. The staff are friendly, the beer is good and it's in a nice location. A pleasure to drink there in the evening or outside on a sunny afternoon.

Thankfully, too far from Ealing Broadway for out-of-towners to get to!
Great local pub.
