please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Went in on a crawl in the area, has been taken over recently by new owners and refurbished, did a decent pint of real ale (can't remember what I had) and looked like it did good food.

Very clean throughout and the barstaff were polite and efficient, worth dropping into if you are in the area.

It is dirty. The younger regulars are unfriendly and the barmaid is rude. Don't bother.

Struck me as being something of an old man's pub - although that's not necessarily a bad thing if they're as jovial as the trio of elderly gents who were sitting with me. Beer wasn't great. In all, an ok pub, but nothing special

Sad,sad pub.

This is a detached backstreet local just off Kennington Rd, occupying a largish corner site (I hope thats not a contradiction in terms!). By the look of the clientele when I was in there last week, its very much a locals pub. They had Pedigree, Spitfire and Harveys Best on. I had the Harveys, at 2.80 a pint reasonably priced, and it tasted OK as well. Its got all the hallmarks of a pub that hasnt changed much since the 70s or 80s red mock velvet covered stools; serried ranks of dark varnished and polished tables; well used banquette seating; and a clean patterned carpet. Unlike a previous reviewer, I found the Duchy Arms to be very clean and well looked after, with no sign of any BO, dust or dirt. The barmaid was friendly and welcoming, and I thought it seemed to be just the sort of place to go for a quiet pint. It had a nice balance between comfort and simplicity, and I should be happy to drop in for another pint if I was in the area.

The review below is somewhat harsh and a little strange itself. So what if MP's and city folk live around here! What are they if not sleazy and dishonest? And what's a 'Ducy'? If this is 'the strangest pub' he has ever been in then he should get out more. I have no allegiances to this place but it appears pretty normal to me. Nothing special; not sparkling clean, not filthy. Just a normal boozer. Methinks the previous reviewer is giving away his prejudices and immaturity just a little.

This is truly the strangest pub that I have ever seen. A spit from Kennington cross and the 1st & 2nd homes of MPs, City folk, and goodnss knows how many council & Ducy of Cornwall houses & homes; a great looking pub & situation. However it's filthy inside! BO, dust and dirt, carpets that haven't been vacumed for ages. A crying shame. The bar maid was both nice, efficent and good looking. Wide selection of beers. Just plain filthy.

OOps!...oops...oops! I got confused with the names of the pubs in the area! I was meant to leave the previous comment on the prince of wales comment board. This pub is actually the biggest DIVE in the area full of loud mouthed disgusting people.

One of the best bars in the area for beer. This is a great bar with original feauters. It has a really interesting feel about it. They do great paninis and their cask beer is top.

Superb oche area, with plenty of chalkboard space. Good beer, including a guest ale (harveys at time of writing).

A good, straightforward boozer serving good quality real ale at a reasonable price. Friendly service. Will be returning here rather than paying the inflated prices at the Prince of Wales!

Proper locals pub - friend;y enough place to watch the footy and cheaper than most other pubs in kennington.

This is a real pub, but its not a 10/10 pub. More like 4/10. The beer when I was in there was on the off side of ok (is that what cask marque means?), there are flies, and there isn't much atmosphere. Better off at the Prince Of Wales around here.

Having left the Pilgrim (see my comment) we went here - what an oasis in a desert! This was a real pub - even down to the locals who stared at us "suits" walking through the door. This is one probably the only pub in the area which hasn't been spoilt - great beer, service and atmosphere - recommended !!

this is a friendly family run pub. It is fairly large, so has two sides, the pool side and saloon side. has car park and garden. "locals" live as far as kent!

Very much a locals pub. Houses pool, darts, wide screen sport and a diverse jukie.
