2 pints and a half for £15! Guinness is £5.50! Better beer, more choice and more resonable prices around the corner in the Kings Arms

Rude staff, bad service and drinks overpriced.

This pub is not going to make anyone quiver with excitement, but you will be served promptly in decent-enough surroundings. Tends to attract the suits and office crowd. The bar staff can be variable from chatty/flirty to dour/sullen - but as long as they can pull a pint that's fine. Mainly european lagers, lady-lagers and the stronger stuff, but perhaps only one or two ales served a bit colder than they should be. It is on the expensive side (just), but as long as that keeps out the reprobates from the Wellington around the corner it's well worth it!

Bit of a strange pub, especially the roof terrace.Probably a better atmosphere when it's busy. The rude French staff have gone now & the ladies behind the bar could not be more pleasant.Good selection of Belgian beers.

Great place near Waterloo to meet up with the lads on a Friday night before hitting a few old fashioned boozers in the neighbourhood.

The stuff of nightmares. Utterly devoid of any personality, expensive, poor quality service. Not even good by city bar standards. Avoid.

If your looking for a quiet place to sit and enjoy your paper; looking into the eyes of the one you love, her/him/mirror and enjoying a Belgium beer; this is for you. Don't be put off by French staff, they too have a purpose in life I suppose????? Don't rush me, I'm thinking?

went here recently, have to agree, the staff are typically french, that is to say, rude. reminds me of an excellent episode of the Simpsons where despot Hank Scorpio is threatening to eliminate a country if his demands aren't met:

Hank: By the way, Homer, what's your least favourite country:
Italy or France?
Homer: France.
Hank: [chuckles] Nobody ever says Italy. [sets the coordinates of a
giant laser gun]

you can learn a lot from the Simpsons...

A perfectly good bar ruined by awful staff... hopefully these comments will be redundant in 6 months when they've all been sacked! They seriously wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire, simply insisting that you leave as you're disturbing their break.

Please, please, please get some new staff!

Not a bad place, the food upstairs is a bit hit and miss but the downstairs bar is pretty good. I have found the "French" staff a little bit rude, but no surprise there. Well worth an after work pint or two

spent a nice evening in here, Staff are ok, didnt see anything other then lagers on tap though....

The gents was out of action, so the ladies was in use as a 'unisex' toilet.....que arguments over 'seat up or down' etc!

Very enjoyable atmosphere, will definately visit again.

Quite a decent place for a stop-off bar by a major station. Can get very noisy and smoky at peak times but worth it for good Belgian beers. Buzzy ambience. Food is fine if you're looking for something to soak up the Leffe.

As a Belgian bar, Abbaye in Smithfield is better. But it's not handy for Waterloo.

Thoroughly pleasant bar in which to while away and hour or two or four in Waterloo. Excellent selection of beers and good wines. Good bar snacks too and very nice restaurant upstairs. Standard central London pub prices but not a rip off for the great atmosphere. Tends not to get as crowded as the Firestation or other pubs in teh area.

Belgian beer in pitchers. Hazy memories....

Haven't been in here for about a year but I really liked it, hope it hasn't gone downhill.
Cleversaz - 11 Feb 2005 15:33
used to eat here a lot but then it went really downhill, it was a slow slip from excellent to really poor. Not a place I'd bother with any more, which is a shame as they used to do some of the best muscles outside Belgos

A decent pub. I can't remember too much though as they sell Leffe by the pitcher...

Fairly pleasant, can get very busy but decent beers and decent staff. Bit pricey though.

Really nice bar with a lovely atmosphere. Nice food and a great choice of Belgian beers.

Nice place for a drink. Can get frenetic on occasion, but a pleasant alternative to some of the other drinking holes in the area.
