This pub is now called the Sun at the Station and was far better than I expected. The drinking environment is nice enough and popular with a fairly young crowd. Ales were Purity Mad Goose, Sharps Doom Bar & Enville Ale. They also appear to have St Austell Tribute on normally. But this was off on our visit.

Up for sale now - the refurb, management and staff/bouncers have ruined another pub. I'm sure Punch Taverns are proud of themselves!!!

went last night with a group of friends what a disappointment..first off the carling was awful it tasted almost metallic the lighting leaves a lot to be desired i know its supposed to add to the ambiance but when i had to use the light on my phone to read the food menu was slightly taking the pee...the crowd in there were very loud a lot of shouting going on this was made worse by music being put on then the crowds then shouted even more...the food was excellent and good value for the money but this will not be a pub i shall return to in a hurry which is a shame as i used to drink in there every weekend in the late 90s early 2000s when it was run by bill

We have just spent the evening at the station. It was pleasant enough until the end, when the two "bouncers" told everyone to leave, being unnecessarily brutish, making us all (I counted 12) stand outside in the rain waiting for our taxis. The last elderly gentleman to leave was literally shoved out of the door so they could lock it and go home. As they left they high fived each other! Why you feel the need to have bouncers at a local pub is beyond me. After drinking there for a number of years, we will not be returning.

Has recently been taken over by same crowd that run the Sun on the hill in Bennets Hill Birmingham Centre. Staff & management do not appear to have a clue. Put beer up 5p as soon as they moved in. (cask bitter £3.20 a pt) Tables dirty, glasses left uncollected & staff eating food behind the counter. The previous manager had worked hard to make it a pleasant place to visit but this management not running it as a local but the same as a town pub with the don’t care attitude.

Nice enough local pub, two real ales, the beer garden seems some distance away, but it's in a nice spot between Kings Heath and Moseley and has a comfortable atmosphere.
|
Certainly a different type of pub to when I last used the Station. Now it's a trendy, contemporary styled bar with state of the art prices to match. Not a great range of beers, or at least nothing much to appeal to me. Service was brisk, not abundant in personality. I think I'm beginning to distrust the concept of refurb. I hope the locals like it, but I doubt I'll be paying many more visits.

Since the refurb' this pub has come on leaps & bounds!! The beer is good as is the food. There is no loud music so you can hear each other speak & the place is altogether ace!
|
no problems with the ale last night. we tried 2 and they were fine
|
When I visted there seemed to be a good atmosphere and mix of people. Its been recently refurbished. The ale is another story. Three handpumps but only ansells was on. This tasted foul and was obviously off, however member of staff was extremley unhelpful and rude when I asked for them to be changed. Why put ale on when your staff don't know how to look after it or the customers?
|
been there once, not in rush to go back, though hear it has been refurbished
|
Recently refurbished and looks good for it. Good food (two4one pizza on weekdays are nice) and nice range of ales. New owners have done a good job on this, and the staff are great. Only let down is the stinky old toilets which are reminder of what this place used to be.

I have been to The Station a couple of times since its refurb. It is fine. Its clean and has a reasonable sellection of ail. The staff are friendly too. Its just a shame they've gone for a bit of a 'fuddy duddy' image. This could have been a cool and trendy pub like the Hare and Hounds.

I went to the Station last Saturday for the second time since it's latest refurbishment and was very impressed to see what they had done. They have reintroduced real ale (there are six hand pulls, one of which includes Purity's Mad Goose, the sixth being a draught cider) and a traditional straight from the barrel behind the bar. The food menu looks very modest and from what I saw of it looked very good value for money. The dcor is refreshing to the eye and makes the place look brighter. The beer garden at the back can hold as many people outside than in. Let us hope that this pub will flourish and become an example of what can be achieved from a refurb.

Went to the New Station pub in Kings Heath last night and it was brilliant. I say "new" because the pub has had a complete re-furb. It looks nothing how it used to look. The discusting trophies and pool table have been removed and replaced by stylish chandilers and wall paper, friendly bar staff, lush seat covering and an amazing new playlist that ranges from Micheal Buble through to florence and the machine. It middle age friendly with a selection of real ales and is still young in the way its been modernised. They do amazing food, you get big portions for a small budget and I hear there will be caberet and comedy evenings soon, A young lady told us that there will be a free quiz on tuesday nights followed by an optional cash round. There launch party is on the 1st April and apparently there will be free food, beer tasting and magictians (I heard this all direct from the Landlord) and it will be and open event so I will definatly be going. Im so happy that there is a decent, safe and friendly pub that has opened in Kings Heath, now I don't need to walk to Mosely any more

I've lived in Kings Heath for about 5 and a half years now and I have always found this pub very dissapointing. It could be one of the best pubs in the Kings Heath/Moseley area if it was cleaned up and served decent drinks.
Last time I went in there was no real ail and no food. There was Staropraamen available which cost 3.20 and didn't taste right. There used to be trophys on the walls, which gave the pub some character but they've all gone now.
The pub has now closed again. There is scaffold up along the front of the building. Hopefully this means the new tennants/owners are going to spend a bit of money and do it up propperly this time. It is begging to be given a Pat Kav type make over.
I heard a rumour that it was to be turned into an all u can eat chineese. I hope not - though I'd probably eat there quite a bit!

Drove past the other day, now open again, will have to viist soon
|
What's happened?? The Station is shut? What's the world coming to...
|
Great pub. Beautifully kept beer, good range, friendly barstaff, friendly locals. Seems to be the only place in Kings Heath that you won't get mugged / stabbed / beaten up or not up it's own arse. the only thig that makes me want to go to kings hetah.
Top marks all round! apart from the toilets, they're a bit grim.
|
This should be the pub beacon of Kings Heath, except for the all new Hare and Hounds. Its not changed much over the years, offers loads of entertainment as others have said. Even though I'm Kings Heath born(ish) and bred, I've never really taken to this place but give it a go
|
Lived in Kings Heath 2 months now and made my 1st visit to the Station yesterday but only for 1 drink. Looked like a proper local with plenty of character.. will be back to have a few soon.
|
The Station is as a pub should be. Loads going on in the bar, local teams and community activities. Main lounge where food is served and you can sit and chat. In the function room live music, quiz nights and the comedy club. Wednesday is the only night it is just a pub. Any ideas????

Tasty Burton Ale, Tetley's cask & that terrible "smooth". Cheap, Cosy, bit old fashioned...Like a PUB should be. Staff cool. Pool table and Old Ladies. Easy atmosphere.
