If you're not a 'regular' yob don't bother!
Despite standing at the (not very busy bar) with a tenner in my hand, the lone barmaid, after shuffling around some slips of paper, turned her attention to the waiting customers. A couple who came into the bar after me, knew the barmaid and she chose to serve them first. Knowing each other of course necessitated a long conversation!
A young lad then arrived behind the bar, and despite me still standing there with my tenner in my hand, he served a guy (who seemed to be a regular) who had just walked up to the bar!!
By then it became apparent that I was either wearing a Cloak of Invisibility, or the staff had chosen not to serve me...so I left.
So if you aren't a "regular" or "in" with the bar staff, I would give the George & Dragon a wide swerve. To do otherwise will only result in frustration & disappointment!

called in here saturday lunchtime on our way to watch portsmouth play brighton and were afforded a fantastic welcome from both staff and customers including some friendly football banter. 6 decent real ales on offer shame i was driving so had just the 1 pint of harveys best but was real good quality , all 3 of us had a meal which were very good quality again and reasonably priced at 5.95 and 6.95 so once again thanks to all who made us feel really welcome and should we be in the area again will surely visit again

Best pub in Worthing - now has the Cask Marque and voted Best Pub 2010!
Great atmosphere, extremely good food, home cooked, real value for money. Staff friendly and polite. Bar prices good too. Would definitely recommend this one (it's my brother's favourite pub but I'm not biased)

Superb value curry night on Tuesdays, well presented and has all the right flavours. Just what this pub has needed fo a long time, good value evening food! I negotiated to trade the inclusive Cobra for a pint of Harveys! Looking forward to the next time.

A much better pub than the rating suggests. Yes it can be cliquey but its not as bad as it used to be. Has a nice garden now that the warmer evenings are arriving.

Is this pub ever quiet? Always busy when i've been in there so it must be good!

Perhaps I was lucky but it seemed cosy, friendly and well run to me. Beer well looked after.

Home of the Tarring clique - ok but you feel like an outsider when you enter the pub.

Was the best pub in town when the owner ran it. Sadly he sold out recently to a local guy that has 4 or 5 other pubs and it shows. The thing that makes a pub good is the people that use it. That will depend on the people that are not allowed to use it. If you allow the local rubbish and pikeys in, all the good people will stop using it. unfortunatly, this is exactly what the new owners have done and in pursuite of a quick profit and it has destroyed the place. I refuse to use it any more.

I agree with all the comments below. This is a very good pub to visit. The staff are very friendly and there is a good selection of beer. It is well worth the 10 minute walk from West Worthing station.

Quality locals pub, nice very friendly atmosphere, last visited with my grandparents, wife & 6 month old daughter, had one pint got thrown out ! for having a child, even though dogs running around seemed to be acceptable !!
