We passed it recently and it looked closed - a victim of West Ham United moving to the Olympic Stadium. Though never a pub I choose to drink in.

Visited Newham for the first time and walked into Upton Park to see what was open in the evening. We found this pub called the central near the tube station. Had great music and we all got up and danced until quite late. Managed to get a seat and got chatting to a few others. Nice atmosphere but a bit rowdy.

Lovely old big Victorian pub with three bar areas. I spotted two original fireplaces, one of which must have been expected to heat the massive ballroom type area to the back!
This pub is the middle of what I call the "Three Sisters" on Barking Road- The Denmark Arms, The Central and The Boleyn. These are all massive Victorian corner pubs which I would image were built around the same time.
Unfortunately there is a planning proposal to turn this into flats. It has been, quite predictably, approved by some greedy, corrupt official in Newham council, so this place won't be around much longer. 150 years of serving the community gone at the stroke of a pen. Such is London in 2015. Grab a pint here while you still have a chance.

Pretty dreadful pub that is supposed to be one of the rare "away friendly" venues near the Boleyn Ground. It didn't seem particularly friendly to anyone when I was there, although nor was it particularly hostile. I was impressed however by the liberal attitude to the youths crowded round the side entrance who were trying to turn it into some sort of brown cafe. This was certainly more sophisticated fare than the depressing range of banal fizzy pop that passed for beer in here.
The barstaff were quite game though. But generally, this is a pub for those who want to get drunk and have very little care for how that happens.

This is just a massive pub, high ceilings, not many tables, which I guess just makes its money on matchdays. Not really a place to have a quiet pint. No ale, but had an okay Guinness. Went to the takeaway "Chillies" next door but didn't want to get friendly with the mouse around my feet!

Havent drunk in there for a while. Decent enough on match days but a complete khazi thereafter....
Vera Lynn started her carreer there back in the 30's as she was originally an east ham girl (not that she would admit now the inverted snob) bless her.

OK on West Ham matchdays, Friday nights are to be avoided like the plague.
Full of tracksuited,baseball capped chavs with knives, plus loads of East Euro mafia types. Not thanks.

As a West Ham fan, love this pub on match days. You rarely get trouble and they always have plenty of staff serving when it's busy. Away supporters are welcome here and love the atmosphere when The Hammers score! It's a bit spit and sawdust, and toilets are more often than not out of order and the hand dryers are falling off the wall but I like it here.

typical london pub, the big gloomy room round the back is probably the best for getting served on match days.

Three-room pub with a lot of the original interior remaining. Friendly enough service but no real ale.
