Pity about it being on such a busy road because the outside tables are not a nice experience.

I live in the area and would really like to want to go to this pub... but I don't. The bar staff are not particulary friendly - surly even. They tend to have a lot of people standing around doing nothing when the que at the bar it getting longer... Is there any reason why the waitresses can't serve behind the bar especially when know one is eating? If they must stand around could they do it a bit more discreetly so I don't feel so angry as I wait at the bar...

I Had lunch there an hour ago. I was served rancid mashed potatoes. It was rotten. Sour, curdled and smelled of socks soaked in liquefied goats cheese. However, when we finally managed to get the blonde lady's attention, she was shocked that we dared to suggest the mash was not quite up to scratch. Said they had been serving it all day and no one complained... She was curt and appeared to be really put out that we would dare a) complain and b) suggest there was something wrong with the food. A little later she did come back to say she didn't know how the mash turned bad as it was 'freshly made that day' (read 'freshly microwaved to order') but at least she seemed to agree that mash potato is not supposed to taste of athlete's foot flavoured cream cheese.
It really pains me to have to put in a bad report here as Lavender always looks so inviting. Furthermore, its local and I really want local joints to do well. All they need to do is to serve palatable and non-rancid food and maybe get more staff in. The two blonde ladies in there always look stressed and over-worked (and the restaurant was less than half full when we were in).

Very good food and a nice atmosphere, friendly staff too, but it's definitely an eating place.

Its is an excellent bar and restaurant, with a nice atmosphere. Also the staff are friendly. Excellent for relaxing in the summer and winter

wonderful food, superb choice, excellent flavours.
Service to die for and a well stocked bar with good reasonably priced wines.
Ask for maxine and book early.
ps. true more food than pub, but good for lazy summer sunday evenings. . .

I have been in here a few times and had some very good food. I'd class it somewhere between foody pub and bar.

Foodie pub with small bar area, but mainly full of diners. If you are looking for a drinkers pub, keep walking to Clapham Junction/ Wandsworth Road...
