terrific refurb, now more reason to go out to new malden for a crawl. always a great selection - i agree with the review about a decent pint of Brains SA. i normally crack on with the greene king ipa which is a great value tipple - and at a low volume that doesn't create hangovers the next day.

A new Wetherspoons pub built in an old Police Station on the major roundabout at the end of New Malden High Street. There is a small patio at the front of the pub. When you enter, the modern aluminium bar is front of you with a large eating area to the right and a smaller carpeted lounge to the left with high seating dead in front. Curiously there is a narrow seating area directly behind the bar. It has the usual excellent range of real ales. The pub is comfortable with a modern dcor and should be added to your list of pubs. It is however a little dearer than other Wetherspoons.

Different style of Wetherspoons in an old police station. Decent pint of Brains SA.

A brand-new pub which opened on the site of a police station, The Watchman is a typical Wetherspoons pub, all shiny tables, too few bar staff, real ales, cut-price beers and two microwave meals for eight quid or whatever.

In the pub desert that is NM, it's welcome but whether the Fountain opposite can survive in the face of stiff competition is another matter...
