Now called M.
Soon to be called M. pretty boring name but somewhat typical of this type of place i dont really have any plans to visit when it opens from the 4th of september.
This is known as Mandolay Hotel/Bar... Reopens in Septmber but not a place to take a drink only really.
hello hello.......this is a test!
Now called, Bar D'or
Strange name!
The Carlton has now changed to the Mandolet Hotel - it has two cracking new bars & an amaizing new underground conference facility. We just had a Christmas Party down there, it was absolutely stunning with a stage for a band & big sound rig. Clearly there is nothing like this in Guildford, full marks to the friendly staff. With a change in name & management approach these guys have clearly managed to shift their old customers with a chiq boutique hotel now full of the beautifull people.

And... yes another Over 25's bar. Also looks like it mostly for 'posh' people

This is an awefull bar. It could be great but the new bar manager was so rude & arrogent. The hotel ran a piece on the new cocktail bar saying the hospitality was good, so we thought we'd go. The atmosphere was seedy & the theme was very very tacky. The staff were inredibly rude & personal to my daughter & wife!? Wouldn't drink at the bar, you dont know what they put in it.. Such a shame. Cocktails? The bar manager was about 20 & knew nothing about cocktails. Turned out it was a free night club, feeling more like the tail end of a cheap wedding party.

Oh please.............., overpriced, overage, and second rate. Avoid!
Bar 36 (aka 'pull a granny') Could be classy just the clientele lets this place down.... mutton dressed as lamb springs to mind!

I think this quite a reasonable place. It has a modern feel and the bar is a fair size (with an odd downstairs bar too).
Given it's location on the outer rim of Guildford's beer guzzling galaxy I'm quite surprised how busy it gets. When I say busy, I mean you need to be taking it easy on the pies if you want to be able to squeeze past the bar to get downstairs. It has the advantage of the late bar and attracting a bit of a niche audience (the 30 somethings!)

Yeah, Mortonian pretty much said it all. Over priced and over age.
