Populated by the usual student tw*ts cheating at quizzes and acting like massive tw*ts. If you like a good quiz avoid at all costs. I get the feeling the young ladies behind the bar are employed on looks and not pint-pulling ability. Top-ups requested every time. Abysmal.

I can see that this is a great pub.
Nice cosy pubby interior with huge hardwearing wooden tables that look like they could sit 20 students at a time.
The trouble was we we visited they were changing brewries so no lager was on!
My pint of Doombar was quite good but my partners wine was awful.
Felt let down by this as a big sign outside clearly stated Otter, Thatchers and Fosters all £2.50 a pint and yet none of these were available.
I'm sure it would be different if we visited on another occasion though.

5/10

Possibly the best pub in the world!

Well certainly my favourite! Nice atmosphere, plenty of young friendly girls during term time and posh idiots to boot!
Watch out for Will the barman,a tasty bit of hot stuff!
good food, if your really nice they will let you cook it yourself while very drunk. But watch out for a trio of non local lads, constantly stealing women off of locals, ruining exeter hockey socials and generally being very obnoxious! but for some reason everyone loves them!

The atmosphere has definitely changed since the new manager has moved in. Welcoming, charming and friendly.

Food is surprisingly good considering the prices, no pretension just simple well cooked pub grub. Great for students!

I would well recommend a visit, especially given the dearth of competition these days in Exeter. If your normal hangouts include the Firehouse and the Imperial then you'll definitely enjoy this

Nice ambience, good value food, good real ales. Excellent old fashioned interior too. Will be back.

New manager has done an amazing job. Good food at ridiculous prices, improved beer selection and quality and has done some work on the interior.

BUT - watch out for a bloke who wears a padlock round his neck who cooks when the owner isn't in. His food is poor in relation, he looks like he wants to kill himself and he puts on loud heavy metal music which kills the atmosphere completely. He served up some 'Garlic Bread' recently - consisted of burnt toast and raw garlic, not impressed.

When he's not in, the boss does a great job on the food. Brie Bacon & Cranberry baguette is bloody brilliant, comes with chips and is only 3.95. Good home made pizzas are served after 6pm.

Drink The Vic Dry is reportedly returning in Sep/Oct 09.

Most definatly in agreement with short thing... a most delightful pub not to mention some incredible ales and remarkable bar staff (and owners).

Defiantly worth a visit.

haha.Yes the some of the staff are rather easy on the eye.A good mix of Students and locals makes this a lively with a good atmosphere. As a student always very appreciative of the doubles bar.Beer not kept so well on the downside though.

Good pub, bit studenty and the pub quiz is incredibly difficult but for a low key drink and good beers you cant go wrong

Very good pub near to St James' Park (Exeter City football ground). Traditional decor, oak beams, well maintained. Friendly atmosphere, ideal for away fans before or after game. Quiz night on Tuesdays.

This is a popular pub situated in the middle of student-ville, Exeter. Although students make a large part of the clientele, the relaxed atmosphere and warming decor make this a firm favourite with locals and visitors a like. The notorious landlord, 'Skermy', and his lovely wife Mo, offer up to 3 real ales at a time and reasonably priced drinks and bar snacks, including excellent house doubles.

The pub has retained some authentic features, with wooden beams on the ceiling and a selection of antique books and ornaments on the walls and shelves.

Years of dedicated drinking by honourable Exeter students has led to slogans and chalk testaments applied to ceilings and posts, adding to the local feel.

A recent refurbishment of the kitchen has revolutionised the food in The Vic, with a vast selection of traditional pub grub along with the choice of an epic 16-inch pizza (which I challenge anyone to finish in one sitting).

The pub also boasts a pool table, 2 fruit machines, 2 interactive games machines, a dart board, cribbage and 15 of the most beautiful student barwomen/barmen I have ever seen.

Visit this delightful pub for a true Exeter drinking experience.
