I was just there on Nov. 23rd. The "Cavern Club" of Pub Rock deserved a better fate. If a new block of flats is progress, count me out. :(

The above building is no more... currently the only remaining part is the cellar, a small pile of rubble.
|
Pub demolished yesterday. They could do worse than knock down those nasty houses to the left of it too.
|
It's worse than closed - it's now semi demolished!
|
Cycled past the pub last night. The building has now been demolished.
|
Closed, surprise surprise its being turned into flats.

The fate of the Tally Ho was sealed long before the new licensing regulations... Camden Council's Planning Office have agreed plans to demolish the Tally Ho & replace it with a new 5/6 storey building with 33 flats & new "shop" premises. The initial application was November 2004.
|
Closed as of new licencing regulations.
Premises now for sale as of 4/1/06.

Sure, the Tally Ho is a little downmarket compared to the majority of pubs in this neck of the woods, but it's not the terrible dive that some claim. A fairly spacious environment that does look a little shop worn but is generally pleasant. The seating is nice and comfortable particularly in the booths. Bar staff were very friendly and I felt welcome despite not being a regular or indeed an "Alkie". Not the greatest range of beers you'll ever come across but pretty standard for a small neighbourhood pub. Pints were of a decent standard and the price was one of the best in this area. Sports theme to pub means that there are plenty of TVs to watch the sport of your choice (Aussie Rules was on when I was in there). Not a place you'd choose as a destination for a whole night out, but good for footie, a quick pint on your way elsewhere or a port of call on a pub crawl.

Was such a giggle once upon a time but now its just scummy. Be prepared to be pounced on by the one known only as 118 or WheelieBin to be asked 'Where ya been?' a million and one times. He'll then try and scrounge a pint off anyone who looks at hime for more than a nano second. Management and staff are nice enough though. Love little Pat behind the bar. Had some good laughs with him back in the day.

Atrocious pub full of tramps and old drunks. Staff are very friendly but are wasted in this dive!
