Has changed to The Two Willows now. Management still the same.

Had a pleasant couple of Adnams at lunchtime. Found it odd that all the seating areas were so dark & dingy though.
|
Like many of the other reviews, the toilets are a disgrace and smell bad all the time, with little black flies always flying around the urinals. Certain of the staff definately have had their personalities removed and appear to have a major chip on theirs shoulders, and Dracula's brother serves up the the tables

It's a while that I visitted the Cork but I was not impressed on many counts. Rude impertanant bar maids was the main problem. Once I dropped into the Cork still waring my football shirt. A rude bar maid started yelling at me to get out. As a matter of fact, I'm blind and had put the shirt on unintentionally. I drink at the Golf Course now where they treat me properly. This bar maid doesn't work at the cork any more but I will never go back. If she just happens to stumble upon this review, I would like to say "Good luck with your stinking attitude. Sad nobody tort you any manors".

Have to agree with everything
Food is poor Toilets Disgusting Over Price 3.40 a pint 50p more than other pubs in town Fights all the time with door staff just watching the action place stinks of sick
Personally i think it should be closed and reopened as a weatherpoons or hungry horse
|
Toilets are disgusting, drinks pricey and interesting crowd. Not much else in the town - Parkway is 'ok' on a friday - Tonic very clicky.

The cork pub in Welwyn Garden City has become a real discgrace. The violence caused by young men and chavs looking for fights every weekend is shocking and beyond control. The doormen and management are un-professional and dont care about the safety of customers..The bar area often lacks clenliness and regularly smells of sick plus the toilets are tired and often flooded with urine whilst small insects buzz around. I have also seen bare wires sticking out of the walls which is extremely dangerous. This place needs to be closed down for everyones safety but on the other hand it keeps all the scum all in one place and away from the other pubs.

Very slow service by miserable staff, food obviously microwaved :( dissapointing...
|
As other reviews state wgc lack excellent pubs and this is one to be avoided, sticky bar and tables, flat beer and average food are all topped off with miserable staff lacking motivation. This used to be a god boozer a few years ago and has now gone down hill. They show alot of sport and have late nights at weekends and the real ale can be good but there is no consistancy. Shame
|
WGC lacks any decent pubs really. Does what it says on the tin. It's a bit drab, the staff are less hit than miss, and the food is average at best. But the beer's OK, and you can watch the footy while you;re having a wee, which is a bonus (of sorts).

A good night out. Friendly staff. Used to have a horrible bouncer that manhandled me and threw me out the pub in my high heels straight onto my arse. Thankfully he doesn't work there anymore. Otherwise i would recommend this pub to someone looking for a night out in welwyn garden city. PS The Dj is brilliant.
|
Near me. Beer OK'ish otherwise grim!
|
Avoid this pub,
FatBob- rude and offensive barman
Food- lukewarm rather than pipinh hot
Flies - place is full of them!
|
Thirty years ago the centre of Welwyn Garden City was an extremely pleasant place. Now it is going downhill - fast! Better than O'Neills around the corner but then most places are! Had a decent pint but not really a place you want to stay. Rumour has it Weatherspoons are planning to set up in the post office a few doors away. Ebenezer Howard's pint will be salty from his tears. RIP WGC!

The marvellously named Bucking Fastard has it spot on. Ale adequate, surroundings dark and worn. It'll do for a pub lunch but I wouldn't dream of spending time in somewhere like this of a night.
|
Operated by Town and City pubco, this is a conversion of a former commercial building. The bar area is wide and designed for vertical drinkers and three handpumps dispense London Pride,Bombadier and Courage Best ,drinkable if dull. There is a mezzanine level upstairs which is more convivial but most of the downstairs area away from the bar is rather gloomy with a low cieling to accomodate the mezzanine.Food offering is value orientated a la Wetherspoons and probably the same standard.Functional at lunchtime, not been in of an evening but pub looking rather worn.
|
In this pub the beer is warmer than the food!
|
new management but customers, sadly, still the same.
|
Further to my entry of 2/12 - i can confirm that the managers at The Cork have fully investigated my complaint and resolved the matter to my satisfaction.
|
I used to enjoy going to this pub, but on Saturday i took my mother in for a nice lunch. i stood at the bar for 20 minutes without being served, two very rude girls were serving behind the bar, and kept looking directly at me, but serving other people who had just walked up to the bar. the managers of the pub were too busy hanging up christmas decorations to notice their staff were not doing their job. needless to say i walked out and will not be returning.

This is a by far the best pub in W.G.C. Yes, it is full of chavs, but the service is usually pretty good & the food & drinks are both reasonably priced.
Eireboy, it is illegal to serve somebody who is obviously intoxicated. Most pubs ignore this up tp a point, otherwise they wouldn't have any customers, so I would guess you must have been pretty out of it to get refused service. As for being kicked out, you do not have to be given any reason at all. The manager can bar you because he doesn't like the colour of your t-shirt! I am not saying you should have been kicked out, just that they did have the right to do this.

I got barred from this too? Why because a barman said I got sick in the place..which is totally false. The manager just believed the barman. Terrible pub. You'll get barred if your face doesn't fit.

Good put for a cold pint on larger, gets a little smoky upsatairs, should not be a problem come 1st of July!!!!
|
John Smiths and Guinness on good grades. Tryed a pint of real ale but it was warm. Nice to see 500ml bottles of Budvar and Baltica (you wouldnt get this in many pubs) and well as a good choice of 330cl bottles.
As for the pub itself, Nice big open places to sit, although tatty in places! Staff gave a fast friendly service using eye contact and smiles.
A lot of possers at the bar though, which I found very funny!
Overall not bad at all and being open until 1am is a real strong point to this place plus the music policy is good too.
Would come again.

was over on hols and popped into this hole, spent most the wkd in and out of there and spent a good few shillings, by the sunday night i was told by a young upstart at the bar that i was too drunk, enquiring the fact that if i was too drunk then why was i served 5 mins before i was manhandled out of the bar, then an even younger squirt claiming to be the landlord (prob not old enough to drink) came to his ignorant staff members rescue. yes we are all heroes aren't we. correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't the UK law say that I need to be given a full reason why i am being barred?? Not that I'm too drunk?? Funny how another 2 pubs served me afterwards?? I asked the "landlord" what would happened if I called the police as his barman had assualted me and had already been told by at least 4 witnesses that he was in the wrong. This place is an absolute disgrace run by complete novices.

Large but well run town centre pub, very very busy on Fridays and Saturdays.
|
Good pub, good laugh on a Friday or Sat night. They have recently refurbished it, tho with the amount of cash they spent it looks like they got screwed over by a cowboy. Oh and who on earth chose that wallpaper, its horrible!
If you are a bar girl type guy, you got a bit of a view at the bar, but they are a little quiet.
|
Staff don't make you feel welcome and the Stella is sometimes ropey. Closed for refurbishment at the moment.
|
Happy memories before the kids showed up. Used to be the only place in Welwyn where people could count to five on one hand. Ahhhhh.....
|
Very cliquey permanent staff and management.

Great pub in the town center of Welwyn Garden City. General age is people in their 20's,30's and 40's. Music not overly loud. Tends to get very busy on Friday nights but Saturday is usually far more quiet.
