This was a real big let down, we went for dinner on a Friday evening, I couldn't describe the restaurant unstairs, someone said pikey and that is pretty accurate. Everything we ordered had a problem, the beer was flat, the olives were not Italian Marinaded Olives as described on the menu, my courgette pasta only had 5 slices of courgette, my friends pizza should have had pepperoni on it but it was some sort of processed unidentifiable meat, in the end we paid for the pizza, chips and 2 beers.
The waitress was dreadful, while serving us she went off to check if they had the courgette pasta and didn't come back, next time we saw her she was serving someone else. It was the fawlty towers of restaurants and I would never return. The one plus side is that when I advised the lady who was now serving us (and she was very nice) that I wouldn't be paying for the olives and pasta there was no argument which to me says that they realise their food is not to an acceptable level.
I don't know if it has always been like this but I won't be going back to find out more.

Just horrible - can't really say more than that. Such a waste of a potentially great space.

The pizza is alright and the lunchtime pizza/beer deal is very good value indeed. But the place has a very pikey feel about it, no doubt enhanced by the fact the last time I was in there, eating my lunch, they put Deal Or No Deal on at top volume right through the (empty) bar, which was just awful.

This place is awful. The pizzas were average and the pasta was overcooked. And the restaurant itself was freezing. Go over the road to Il Baccio for much nicer pizzas and pasta.

It's strange that the posters raving about Booths have only posted on one pub (ie Booths). We weren't born yesterday!

Don't understand what the problem is, have been coming here for years: great service, great value pizzas, Peroni on tap, the bar downstairs is a laugh - I certainly don't remember the incident of closure for hygiene reasons - I can only conclude that most of the commenteers on this page were going to a different place

How it won the best Italian restaurant in Hackney is beyond me, even considering the Hackney Gazette was doing the judging (and, babyoatcake1, how come you have only commented on one pub - are you the owner?)
Bought a pizza there a few weeks back. Ingredients were cheap. Toilet cistern was broken. Lid was held together with that wide silver gaffer tape and had to lift the lid off to flush the toilet.
I place definately not worth revisiting!!

Happened to notice previous comments about this place and glad to see nothing has changed in the few years since it opened ... one of the scuzziest most down market places in Hackney. Shame is that the site and space has so much potential. Avoid at all costs - An All Bar One would be better!

I love Booth's! Was recently drawn to this venue after it won BEST ITALIAN RESTURANT in Hackney. The best Pizzas to be found in N16 by a long way and friendly staff. I found the food to be garet value for money. I place definately worth revisiting!!

PLEASE NOTE: The owners of this bar/restaurant have recently been fined and temporarily shut down for SERIOUS breaches of food safety and hygiene rules.

Nothing wrong with Budvar on tap. Pizzas pretty reasonable as well.

Best pizza in Stokey but doesn't offer much else... dodgy crowd in the pub downstairs, ok restaurant area upstairs, nice outside seating, friendly staff.
|
Not only a 'wine bar' bbut has a restaurant upstairs. Very reasonable prices for a good selection of Italian food. Unfortunely you aren't allow out on the outside after 10pm now but nevertheless plenty of seats inside. Does also hold the record for most amount of flies in the men toilets!

Even it's called Cafe Bar...I' ve never seen anyone actually having just a coffee. It' s a young crowd...lot' s of sofas...relaxed atmosphere. It has a Jukebox what makes quite attractive to me. During the summer you can sit outside under fancy lights with view on Stokeys extraordinary graveyard. Offers organic lager and wine. Friendly staff and owner. Changing pictures from local artists. Nice one !
