Pleasant pub, quite lively and with a nice selection of ales. Not a place for a session, but fine for the odd couple.

Not a bad little pub, I had a pint of Midsomer Murders, 3.9%, it's Hardy and Hanson's Best Bitter badged for the pub. Barnaby and Det Sgt Jones once visited.
However, like most of Henley-on-Thames, not exactly a hot bed of quality real ale!

Good food, good beer and good welcome.

Very nice pub but expensive drinks. Almost 4.00 for a pint. "Please go slowly round the bend" is a sign on a corner in the bar.
|
Nice looking building and a nicely kept pint of GK "Flankers Tackle" but @ 7.00 for two pints it loses marks!! shame 6/10
|
Asked for a pint of IPA, the barman poured it and asked for 3.60, I said that's a bit expensive, he said the Wetherspoon is down the road, I left, the pint went in the slop tray....

Been done up since our last visit a few years ago and now definitely aiming more at the food crowd. But that was us on this particular evening so The Argyll fitted the bill with slightly pricey but not outrageous decent pub food and although only GK, the ales were well kept. Yes, the IPA is pricey at over 3 a pint, but that seemed to be the going rate for central Henley.

Greedy King at their greediest, over 3 for unremarkable GK IPA. Incredibly hot inside. Didn't see any quiz machine alluded to by the mighty one, just a fruit machine. Wouldn't rush back.

Went there once and was so satisfied that in the following months came back twice. You can't say it's cheap, but it has its own parking, the atmosphere is beautifully relaxing and full of charm, the personnel is always nice (starting from the landlord), the food/beer good and the toilets fully in order. It has a small terrace at the back, which I never found attractive and avoided even on gloriously sunny days. All in all a very good experience and a pub you can trust, much better than the Catharine's wheel a bit down the road, but this is clearly a more upscale establishment. Abbot on tap is always a safe choice.

Pleasantly upmarket Greene King refit pub which seemed to attracting the nouveau riche of Henley on my visit (one of whom looked suspiciously like Bruno Brookes).
Beer-wise there was the usual Greene King suspects - Abbot and IPA - but happily a guest too in the form St Austell Tribute; although it was served waaaay to cold. The barman was a nice chap.
The fair-sized interior is posh tables, pot plants sofas and muzak although (oddly) there was also a quizzer which wanted to pay so I left 10 better off. There's a nice garden too.
A paradox pub - although I find it hard to get too excited about the place, I wouldn't mind going back again at some point in the future.

A good town-centre pub, neither grungy not tarted up. Also, no piped music, which is big plus.
|
Good ale served here, fresh and cared for. Sunday roast was more than ok, and a great time had by all. It is a one bar pub with seating for diners at the front, seemed to work well and atmosphere and service polite and friendly. Would happily recommend to other pub enthusiasts.

Seemed like a decent place. On 26th, we enjoyed watching a young blond thing try extremely hard to pick up the handsome young barman, bending right over the bar in a low cut top. I wonder how that ended?

Perfectly OK pub, pretty accurately described in the last three or four posts.
|
Good big clean pub, lots of different ales, good atmosphere had a few jars in here on saturday with friends this was my first visit next time I am in Henley I will try to make a beeline for this place.

Market place pub with good beer, good food and good service. Greene king IPA and Abbott on Draught with Seasonal guest Ales. Cross section of regular customers, with lots of meals being served at lunchtime. Full evening menu available, Sea bass, rump steaks, cod and Chips. The pub has an easy going feel about it, but does what says on the tin. We left The Argyll feeling more than satisfied with our experience.

Very friendly welcome in this pub. Nice pleasant staff in a clean and tidy pub. The Abbott ale was as good a pint as you could hope for.

Busy little pub, the bar staff are superb, nothing to much trouble! Really nice pub food. Good ales, spacious garden. A+++++++++++

The quality of beer in this pub is very good. A genuine welcome from staff, nice pleasant atmosphere and the best Cod and chips we could have hoped for. Well done and thank you for keeping up tradition pub values.

Fantatic little town centre pub, good quality real ales served by nice people. It was very busy in the pub on market day and we were lucky to get a good seat over looking the market square. The IPA was delicious.
