Went to most of the Good Beer Guide pubs in soho and this was the best beer.
Very good pint of London Pride.
Nice boozer.

A quiet gem. Good draught well kept and served by knowledgeable staff.
Spartan in decoration and challenging today without heat. Well worth a visit.
Is it really Nicholsons? ***

Nice enough pub. Decent ale, strange music in the background, Dead Kennedys then jazz/funk.

I've only been in this pub twice. It is like a small miracle or an oasis in the desert of shite that is Piccadilly. Please do not go there as I don't want it to be too crowded. Too late - the suits are already assembling like a flock of vultures on the pavement.

The Queens Head was a nice little find just off Piccadilly Circus. It's a fairly small, narrow bar with just enough seating. World Cup football was being shown. I didn't notice the downstairs bar. Ales were Dark Star Summer Solstice, Fullers London Pride, Sambrooks Wandle, Robinsons Trooper & Moncada Notting Hill Summer. There are no real ciders. But they do have Aspalls and Sandford Orchards Devon Red from the keg. One of the best pubs in this area.

A nice little pub not too touristy and selling Wandle and other local beers although they really ought to turn around the pump clip if a beer isn't on. Also hard-enforced the no-under-18s rule re a young lad who was behaving himself and TBQH looked 18 to me. Still, a nice pub for all that.

A narrow, traditional pub in a back street. Several ales available. Attentive barman. I had a perfectly acceptable pint of Wandle from the Sambrook's Brewey, Battersea. Expensive but then that's expected in central London. The downstairs toilets smelled like the elephant house at Chester Zoo.

Fabulous little freehouse. So glad its no longer a bland Nicholsons. Its a cosey little pub with a good beer selection. There were 5 handpumps with a strong local London presence including Wandle and Portobello Market Porter.
What made the pub for us was the genuinely friendly bar staff who realky go the extra mile

I visited this quaint locals type of pub in the heart of Soho on a Saturday evening around 10pm.
As mentioned before this is a Freehouse now that has 5 handpumps on the bar dispensing 3 ales which were Twickenham Winter Cheer, By The Horns Stiff Upper Lip and Sambrook's Wandle, also a decent selection of American and European bottled craft beers in the fridge.
2 bars, I was in the downstairs bar and it was very buzzey with plenty of chatter from the groups that were gathered, music played above the chatter but not too loud that it drowned the chit chat out.
2 large ornate chandeliers hang along with faux period lighting above the above.
This really is an old fashioned pub that is excellent and well worth a visit.

Nice little pub, much better than a lot of the better known on es in the vicinity. Good to see some lesser known beers available and even better to have a barman who knows what he's serving. It's maybe not the most comfortable of pubs but for a quick pint (served in a jug as well - retrotastic) it does the job very well.

Excellent: a proper pub in this area! Headline above wrong. It's been a free house for over a year.
Real ales from various London breweries are in good condition: knowledgeable staff. Unpretentious and friendly. A gem.

Well its good to see that there are still some decent barmen left in london. Yes I returned and spoke to one of the barmen. He was allot more diplomatic about the situation. He explained how the pricing works. So i will continue to use here monday to friday... as for the weekends... ill still stay clear of that horrid part time barmaid
|
well ive been going here every week now as there is a half decent pint of Guinness. But this is my first saturday and im disgusted to if 15p dearer ... over the past few weeks ive paid 3.45 and thats one of the reasons for my return. Well I got charged 3.60 today and got a gloomy look from an bargirl with not a clue of how to deal with customers. I shall be finding somewhere else to drink. as for a visit ,,, Not advised well not on a weekend anyway !

This is an average London boozer that was serving up Landlord and Pride during my visit. There was an ale that was off and also an unused hand pump along with a standard draught selection.
The staff were friendly enough and Id go in again if I happened to find myself standing outside.

this is one of the few pubs in central London where you can get a drinkable pint of Carling. but it varies one helluva lot. sometimes it is spot on, other times it is soapy and sharp. and it is often unavailable too. but, like the little girl with the little curl: when it's good it is very very good and when it is bad it is horrid. take your chances if you want an English lager but it is certainly your best bet in the vicinity.

This was my favourite pub in the West End. Gone down hill since Pete left.

It was the only pub in Soho that you could get into at the time on a Friday night, and the... er... 'attitude' of the staff soon explained why. The first time I've ever decided to go home purely because I objected to putting any money through a pub's tills. Avoid.

Superb little pub - gets busy but then thins out again as the theatre crowds dissipate. Lovely polish barmaid too!

Cheap comedy every Friday night - you can usually find the comedians handing out the flyers around leicester square. Generally the acts are quite similar every week so probably not best to visit too often. Beer / prices are ok.

Owned by the same people who run the 'Nicholsons' chain. Serves Addlestones real cider. Pleasant ground floor interior. Quiet wood-pannelling upstairs room.
