Largish pub in a side street off Quay Street ( main road to Salford ) , but within the Manchester City Centre boundaries.
As previous posters have correctly pointed out, this is " Vera Duckworths pub " and the pub is adorned with numerous photos and press cuttings of our Vera and other cast members.
In many other respects, its a somewhat unremarkable pub, with, despite a reasonably traditional feel, the slightly impersonal ambience of a City Centre circuit pub. I gather it does indeed get impossibly busy on Friday and Saturday nights.
There's no real ale.
In conclusion, I found it a pleasant enough place, but unless you're a big Corrie addict, I see no real reason to specifically seek this one out, given nearby alternatives.

Was quiet when I passed yesterday afternoon but I imagine there were a few celebrations in the evening to mark the departure of Vera from Corrie.

Was in for lunch and then a few pints watching the England footie match on Saturday. Only a handful of people in there when we arrived, so got a good seat right in front of the telly. Ordered some lunch, but they had clearly had a problem ordering stock - half the menu wasn't available. My lasagne was average and service not great - my mates meal arrived 10mins after mine. That aside, beer was good and is a pleasant enough place to spend a few hours, as long as you don't mind Duckworths face staring back at you everywhere you look

Got off with Ena Sharples in here! Actually, it really was an eventful night. A fight broke out after someone called Mike Baldwin a cockney twa-t. Len Fairclough was arrested for chatting up some six year old. But funnily enough, Bert, the shirt, Tyldesley disappeared with a duffel bag into the toilets and wasn't seen all night. He was OK, though. It later transpired that he'd accidentally got locked in a toilet that was already occupied. Now that must have been embarrassing. Average pub, average beer.

This pub is owned by Liz Dawn and is a mecca for fans of Coronation Street - see memrobilia on the walls. No real ale, but good for a cheeky VAT.
|
Not a favorite keg beer only can get packed at weekends, no character.
|
Fairly non-descript place. Not somewhere I would go out of my way to visit.
|
Make up of the punters can vary massively depending on the night.Right next door to The Opera House,so full of theatre goers when there`s a show on.Also been in there when gangs of Salfords finest have put in an appearance.
Think as a rule the customers are probably older than your average pub.Popular with middle aged I say.
And you would definately NOT be lucky if you were in there when Les Battersby is boring everyone in earshot, which is everyone in the pub in his case.

This is a must for Coronation Street Fans! Sometimes if you are very lucky you could bump into Les Battersby (he's the same in real life)
