It has reopened. We've visited twice now; first time was just for a couple of pints, second time was for a meal.
The drinking part. The village needed a decent place to drink and the bar section of the White Hart is it. There are some lovely old features and it's a decent size. My wife loved the NZ Sauvignon Blanc, which was both tasty and well chilled.
Food-wise, I can't offer a broad review as we both just had rib-eye steaks. They were really good though; everything on the plate down to the tomato was excellent. They were also very reasonably priced.
Both nights the staff were great. Still a little finishing decorating to be done (e.g. cupboards under sinks in toilets awaiting installation), but I've assumed that'll be done shortly.

A very pleasant evening spent here last night, there's life in the old place again. A handy two minute walk from the station makes it convenient for non-villagers like myself. Friendly staff make it ideal for an evening pint

Popped in here tonight on it's re-opening with new a new landlord. Quite busy and food starting again soon. The standard Badger ales available including Hopping Hare for the summer. Nice conservatory and patio round the back

Excellent pub with great beer selection and good food. Landlady is very pleasant and accomodating. Lovely area out the back for summer evenings.
|
Rather quiet during a mid-week lunchtime visit but very friendly service and good beer - the Hopping Hare was very drinkable.
The food was good but the menu was extremely limited. The rear conservatory is very pleasant.

There have been several changes of management here and also a change of owner. It is now a Hall and Woodhouse pub offering Badger Gold, Hopping Hare, Tanglefoot and K&B Sussex Bitter.
A 2 bar pub, one with comfortable leather sofas and the other with pool table and tv (not Sky). There's a rear conservatory set as a restaurant and a rear terrace. There are new tables at the front too, fenced from the road.
It was fairly quiet when I was there on a Monday but apparently gets quite busy later in the week and at weekends. Hopefully the management is settled now as the pub has a good feel to it and seems to be on the way up. A good alternative to the Buxted Inn (by the station) and worth the 2 minute walk down the hill.

Completely different type of hostelry to the Buxted Inn a few minutes walk away - and of the two I have to say I prefer the White Hart. Wider ranger of ales, nice dining area, bar billiards table - all in amiable surroundings.

Awesome pub. Great food, friendly owner, cosy atmosphere especially in winter when the fireplace is going. Excellent pork scratchings.

Good pub in dark surroundings (can't see the picturesque ones after sunset) 2 mins walk downhill from the station. 4 real ales available - 2 from Harveys and Kings (ex K&B owner). The latter may have been a special and when the barrel ran out on the 4th pint they were quick to check the 3 previous pints they had pulled were up to scratch. Restaurant area looked empty but the side bit to the bar was full of diners in a pleasant atmosphere and comfy seats before we moved to a table to dine. Recommended not to have a starter if like most of us you go for the half shoulder of lamb
