Drinking in Palmers Green is never the smartest choice, but once youre there, you have to make the best of what youve got. Knowing the alternatives are even worse, we ended up here.
I would, however, suggest avoiding this place unless you're a sadist. Youll start your encounter having to negotiate surly power tripping doorman and once youve managed that, youll be confronted by surly incompetent bar staff charging over inflated prices. When youve finished filling their till with what was once a decent amount of money in your wallet, you can go find yourself a spot to stand in a pool of roid filled testosterone and get into a fight about the cast of Jersey Shore having better hair than Geordie Shore.
Good times.

I have a love/hate relationship with this place. Music on Saturday tends to be good but way way too loud. It get very crowded, very hot and usually a fight of some kind, which it must be said is always dealt with swiftly by the bouncers. Beer is OK not exceptional. I've been coming in here every so often for about 10 years now and it's just the same struggle to get to the bogs when it's busy.

I like this place although there was a sense of something might kick off. Didn't stay for the band as wanted to see Bible code Sundays in the Fox so had a couple and left. Well run, Guinness ok/good.

This is a decent pub with a friendly enough crowd, although the barman that served me could do with cheering up a bit. The drinks selection is a little unimaginative with the usual selection of standard and premium lagers.
A band was just starting its set at the rear of the pub as I was leaving and I have to agree that it was extremely loud. No wonder everyone was crammed into the front. The centre of the pub is very narrow so it can be a bit of a squeeze getting to the toilets that are up the stairs and so far away they must be in a different time zone. There are plenty of plasma screens and the pub was advertising sport shown on Sky and Setanta.
The bouncers seemed to be asking for ID from anyone who looked under 21, which is always a good sign and I think added to the nice atmosphere.
I certainly wouldnt be upset if this late licence pub was one of my locals.

Great pub been going there for years, live music every friday and saturday can be a bit same-ish I suppose but alway very friendly. Run with military precision by Huey.

when swarm play here there is no better place in london... what a band ...what a venue
|
only been there once recently and the music was too loud to have a conversation. however, used to go in there all the time for football/gaelic games and the atmosphere was pretty good.

I've been coming here for many years - since it changed from being a printers shop in fact - and it just feels like a very homely bar, despite its size.
Barstaff know your name, punters chat with each other - I've been in long conversations with many people who I'd never met before - and the food isn't that bad either.
Music selection during the days and when they don't have bands on is good and varied. Bands tend to be a bit on the loud side, but you can still talk if in the front half. Shows lots of football, rugby and hurling. And is open VERY late at weekends.

i am totally inocent i did nothing wrong

No sympathy pal - no minesweeping.
That bouncer's memory is commendable, you could have been chucked out for serious wrongdoing - the bouncer isn't expected to remember that you were an associate of a thief.
Let it go.

i went there with my friend just b4 the end of last year and he drunk from other peoples beer glasses the bouners chucked him out and chucked me out even though i didnt do anything and did not know what my friend was doing, i came back and a couple of months later and the bouncer said that i couldnt come in because of my friend, this is totally unfair and now there is nowhere i can go and enjoy my favourite live music, DONT GO TO THIS PUB THEY TREAT U LIKE S**T

This pub is too long and narrow, people in here are not as friendly as the crowd in the fox - not been in here since the fox has opened and doubt I will be rushing back

i think huey is really a woman, nice decor though.

Probably the best pub in North London. Live bands EVERY Friday and Saturday. Friendly staff and clientele. Huey Fallon is the finest landlord in the British Isles.

Not my cup of tea!

We visited this pub last night after reading the above comment. Very friendly bar staff, nice interior but unfortunately no music (maybe it's not regular) and they didn't serve food on Saturday nights.

Popular pub in central Palmers Green. 2 big screens plus several smaller screens allowing it to often shows 2 different games at each end of the pub. Live and late music at weekends means it can get a little crowded. This recently renovated Irish pub does not go down the road of in your face tacky O'Neills style decor. Drinks could be a little cheaper - but the food is of good standard and quality. Also has a very pleaseant outdoor area for the summer.
