I visited this pub with my wife and the service was bad from the moment we walked in. Staff were rude at the bar and not helpful. Felt like we had disturbed their conversation. We ordered food starters and mains, and our mains came out before our starters, when we eventually got our mains again they had just been heated up. I had an ale which tasted like it had been sitting in the line for weeks, my wifes lager was ok though I probably wont be visiting this pub to eat again

Situated near the train station - this place makes sense as a first port of call on a visit to Hook.
The place feels a little like a lads culture type of bar with many pool tables around and Sky Sports on the Tv.
Ales consist of Greene King beers, ok drinks and a handy stop off point 8/10.

Recently visited this run down, boring pub. The food was over priced and bland; as were the hotel rooms. The staff were very rude, especially the 'barmaid' with big teeth. The staff have given this pub a bad name. I would never go here again and if I ever need to stay in Hook again, It will be in The White Hart Hotel which is a much better choice.

We recently spent a night at The Raven. The reception staff were very helpful & friendly, the room was comfortable and clean and breakfst was buffet style and very good quality. Either we stayed at a different Raven Hotel to the other reviewers or the place has had a major overhaul. Trying hard to find a negative the only one we could come up with was I dont like herby sausages for breakfast.

HAve not actually stayed at the hotel, but have used the bar. I found a few of the staff to be unfriendly. Good entertainment when they have a disco ad themed nights though

Stopped here recently on our way to Heathrow. Despite there being only a couple of other customers, our food order took a full hour to arrive. It was nice when it eventually turned up, though.

Nothing good to say about Raven Hotel Cold water showers Damp mouldy walls in bathrooms Avoid this poorly run charmless place.

This hotel has undergone 2 updates since 2003. The first *was* an improvement and did give good food and a nice atmosphere, with live music on occasion. The second change of management pushed the bar to the rear which - although it allows for many more punters to cram in (as well as allowing a home for "physic fairs") - has lead to a walk to the bar that puts many potential customers off, and has destroyed any atmosphere this bar had (the sport channel blaring out is also unwelcomed by me). The food was also sub-let and has led to a naff pizza place which is never ever busy, let alone full. Zebra pizza special? What the...? (The food in the Indian resaurant is much better, if you intend to stay in the hotel overnight). It has the usual stock of lagers, bottles and beers, but I pass this pub every day and have been in once in 2005. Watch the commuters from the adjacent railway station stream past every evening without giving it a glance. Enough said.

Anon is obviously part of the 'new management' and/or severely deluded. was an adequate pub about 6 years ago, even had a late licence but stopped due to brawling scum. now painted garish orange with permanently deserted pizza restaurant. avoid

The re-fit, although "clean", does nothing for the atmosphere. If you like loud Sports channels on multiple TVs in cramped conditions then this is place for you.
