Actually, having written the post below, my rating has to go up to a 6! Had a good chat with the barmaid and it turns out that they're making a good effort under new management.

The pub is going to be completely refurbished in the next couple of months and they've just started doing food again at both lunchtime and in the evenings.

They've even put a Wii in hooked up to one of the big plasma TVs.

It's not a great pub yet, but I think you've got to try and support your locals.

Alright, it's not a great pub, but at least they've got a good line of lagers and Courage Best and Bombadier available.

It is a little bare - needs a few more tables! But it's got a jukebox, a friendly barmaid and a darts board.

It's also clean and tidy - more than can be said for some places.

only good for football days I'm afraid and is surprisingly expensive as well for what it is

Out of sheer curiosity, I re-visited The Guy Earl Of Warwick last Thursday (17th Jan) whilst in the area. I had paid a couple of visits when I briefly lived in Welling a few years back (note earlier review) and although nothing spectacular, I didnt have a problem with the place. It was a little ragged; a bit of a lads hangout, yet England beat Iceland 6-0 on my first visit here.

So, how was it? DEAD. Its been refurbished, there are two plasma screens and a few tables, darts board and err, and thats about it. I honestly couldnt believe just how bare the place is. Its been completely gutted and any life this pub may of once had, has gone. I know it wasnt a weekend night, but still. There were maybe five or so regulars within and the least said about them and their vernacular skills, the better. Courage Best was the solitary ale on offer, though whod choose to drink it in here is anyones guess. This is a lager pub with a capital L. This is a boozer worth bypassing.

Personally, I totally agree with the last posting.. This pub lacks friendly atmosphere and doesnt seem at all interested in customers.. Well overpriced drinks .

Refurbishing may look nice, but pool tables are gone and so have most of the tables and chairs, no entertainment on any evening either .

Customers are defiantly paying through the nose for the refurbishing with over priced beers and spirits.
In fact everything about this pub is overpriced.

On entering this pub, you experience a dead atmosphere that doesnt change during evening either.
The staff are pleasant.
It lacks appeal.

Place will be refurbished soon and will lose the pool table.

This place is quite a "local" pub, but I've been in there a good few times now and I've always found it to be alright. They do Lwenbru which is always a bonus and the staff were quite polite. Nice beer garden for the Summer as well. Wouldn't go out of my way to drink there but if I'm in the area it's more than sufficient for a light ale.

A little rough round the edges, not in terms of the dcor, but perhaps the clientele. However, despite hearing a couple of stories, I found this pub to be friendly enough on my couple of visits. At the end of the day, this is just an average every day locals pub and unless you're already frequenting it, this really isn't a place to look out for.

crap.crap crap crap.just a regulars pub i'm afraid, strangers are welcome on the management and staffs behalf but others will make you uncomfortable. its changed for the better over the years but still a bit of work to do here.beer is reasonably cheap with fosters at 2.12 and kronenberg at 2.33 a pint but bloody dear for the ladies with wkd, smirnoff ice and all the other poof drinks at 2.74 a bottle.good deals on spirits though, selected lines 1.99 doubles but not including your mixer.food is ok but not always cooked or presented to its best.they did have a really good cook in there but he's left again,he cooked the best steak for miles and presented it really well, whatever you were having.if a sad cramped pub is your cuppa then go for it but only if you've got the patience to be accepted.

This is a proper regulars pub, which is trying to branch out and get new customers in. It has a friendly atmosphere, but is unfortunately still associated with the small minded bigoted BNP factor in Welling. Also used to attract druggies, which gave it a bad reputation, which it is trying very hard to rid. Though i do recommend people to give it a go as the staff are always friendly, especially Barb and the food and drinks are always served to a good standard.
