Now, if your idea of a good Friday night out is to packed in with large amounts of raucous students, hen parties and stag parties, with hardly enough room to lift your overpriced alcopop to your lips, then Yates in Bournemouth is the place for you. I dont drink alcopops and have an aversion to beer from plastic glasses, so I left.

a better than average pub in the local area. bar staff friendly, shame to see the place empty but guess probably fills in the evening. any place that serves from plastic gives me the impression there is trouble ahead. didnt fancy the steps up into the place, ok for lunch but wouldt use in the evening

Nice in the summer when you can sit outside

after visitng bournemouth and doing wetherspoons, the brasshouse, and the slug and lettuce this was the best...spent a couple of nights in there drinking and watching football...clean tidy and good service at the bar...

I met a man who seemed about 30 years old, he was very drunk and managed to fall over, at the same time his false teeth fell out onto the floor.
If you fancy this kind of alcocol fueled drinking for your evening, then dive right in, i'm sure you'll love it.

I was over-charged on a so-called 'two for one offer', and when I complained the surly staff were somewhat less than helpful. I then threatened to compalin the local weights and measures officer because the price list was not visible to the public.

The only problem with this pub is that it is tooooooooooo busy. Why go to a pub and not be able to get anywhere near the bar. They even have an upstairs bar which is closed more than it is open. Sorry but if they want to charge entry forget it. I This one needs it's entry quota cut by half so it can be a little bit enjoyable.

There is no clear reason why this pub is great, But it really is. It seems like every other place in Bournemouth but for some reason the atmosphere in there is great, there's rarely any trouble and the food is pretty good too. Only complaint is being charged 5 to get in sometimes on a saturday, Strangely there doesn't seem to be any policy for this they just pitch up at the door now and then and start charging.

Gets a bit of abuse but this is basically a rich man's Moon in the Square! Quite a nice place really, reasonable food and nice decor. And I would totally agree with 'anonymous' 23rd March!

Best place in Bournemouth to watch the football. Lost count of how many screens they have got but there are way more than any other bar in town. Food is good and provided the perfect accompaniment to Euro 2004...until Becks missed THAT penalty! Good location as well although the stairs up to the entrance may prove a bit tricky if you try visiting it late in your pub crawl.
A personal favourite and will benefit from my student loan once more in 2005!

If you go to this place on a Fri or Sat night dont bother taking your wallet. Drink before you go as you will never get to the bar.

It's a great pub with a load of good vibes. Myself and my buddy Andy go in there quite often. Well worth the visit, especially for Emma (the barmaid) and the vodka jelly!
