North Camp has to be one of the most depressing places in the universe. A miserable station filled with rubbish everywhere, a complete tip. Then there is the place itself, yes a great idea having a pub right next to the station but what you get is something pretty hideous. Its full of drunk punters threatening anyone who isn't a local. I'm sure they're not bad people, it simply isn't welcome for non locals!

Visited on 16/11/12. This is definitely a traditional pub and a far cry from the bland chain pubs you see around. Food is no longer served but drinks prices are reasonable (£10ish for a pint of Fosters, pint of Strongbow and Bud bottle) in the scheme of things and the interior fittings/furnishings are 'olde worlde' but clean nevertheless. There was a friendly atmosphere from those propped at the bar and around the pool table and a live band did some good Who covers. Handy for me as I get the train over to see friends in North Camp/Ash Vale so this is a handy place to go for both parties. Sadly the trees that were planted in the early 90s around the new station flyover have grown to the point where the pub is almost invisible unless you use the station itself. Hopefully the current owners would reach out to residents in Ash Vale, Avondale and North Camp and promote the pub a bit more as it has plenty of character.

Went on tuesday evening - good music at the Jam session
visited this pub to saturday lunchtime only to find i was the only customer there !! ordered a pint of real ale and was poured a short pint ! The whole place was tired and needed a re furb to attract more than just one person to use it ,on a Saturday lunchtime !! If something isn`t done to this pub ,it will become one of the 50 a week closing and being turned into flats !!

Went to The Old Ford for the first time - had driven past it before, but never been in. Very friendly welcome, good service and nice atmosphere. I'll definitely be going back.
I often go to The Old Ford as I really enjoy the atmosphere in there. Unlike refurbished or new pubs, The Old Ford still has an old fashioned pub atmosphere. There aren't many places left like this anymore, so long may it continue. It has a lovely mix of people due to its location.
The staff are very welcoming and the bands and entertainment are always good.
Definately worth a visit!

i missed my train last week and went into the pub at the train station the old ford looked nice from the outside bit shabby inside nice staff. but can see what people are saying about it its very quite there was one nice old man in the pub nice family pub didnt like the idea of children being aloud behind the bar but nice littler pub. think that anyone looking to buy the place should have a good rethink an think is it really worth losing money in the long run, nice place but jus to quite

YES... I would like to make a comment! for the person thats copying and pasting of course!!, There are lots i would like to say but for you Ill save it until you pop in and see me in person.. but i doubt that will happen.. You state that you had a meal here and you had animal hair on it??.. well please do remind me of the day you had this meal and what it was you had...there was 3 of you wasnt there??.only to refresh my memory as there hasnt been one incident of such a thing and as to asking you leave would be a big mistake, you obviously know me and I think a little bit of jealousy is pouring out in your comments.. I know that "asking you to leave after calling you a liar" would certainly not of happened now would it??. As for the new members of staff that cant pour a pint??.. well we actually got rid of that person didnt we?? the 2 extra staff we have now are very very popular and bloody brilliant at their job...they are fabulous with the customers and are not loud and gobby!!! We have alot of customers that know of our situation here..but anyway just for your info....its OUR MANAGERS that are selling the lease to this pub, we are looking into buying that lease so if all goes well we will be here for many yrs to come, just as our regulars want and many besides that...but please do come back once this has happened and see what changes will be made and of course if you have the courage to come along please inform us before hand and Ill make sure one of our new staff members serves you a great pint ......and of course we will also refund you your money for the meal you actually say you had Oh and lastly of course ill also point out to you the many spelling mistakes you made!!

Saturday night and there are three daft people sat at the bar doing annoying Donald Duck impressions. Only one other customer turned up while I was in here. The pub does give the impression that it may be struggling.
Rather surprisingly, my pint of Pedigree was pretty good. Three other standard beers were also available.
to look hard at this place and employ someone who will not drink its contents, work drunk, will work hard to make this lovely little pub a hit and get rid of the person running the place to the ground! ur words exsacly
sorry the buisness isnt boomin my mistake
this place is dead all the time. the staff are rude they have a new girl working there who couldnt even pour a ale correctly, the male landlord has a few drinks then gets gobby i rate this pub low. i use to go ther about a year ago but since being taken over by the new people its starndards have droped they have animale runnig through the kitchen an cats sittin on the bar we ate there an that was an experiance id never lik to incounter again we had a few hairs in are meal then was told we were lying about it (we wasnt) an asked to leave. have since spoke to a regular there an he has stated that the pub may be under new management soon as the buisnes is booming, i hope so as these new people have ruioned the nice traditional pub it once was also it is very expencive thanks for reading

I looked on the The Rhythm Pigs' website to see that all the Old Ford gigs have been cancelled, why was that? I know they are still gigging, but with a new singer.

Im half of the "new new gaffers" and just to inform 995BLUE that our decision to place the bands out the back was entirely ours to not only make good use of the whole pub and like us 99.9% of our regulars all thought the standard of the bands have been quite poor and of the same theme each week, now that some variety has been put into our music nights each Friday evening the bands will now be coming back into our bar area cos they are bands worth listening too. Also now with the food operation in full swing we will be needing the back room for an eating area and for other events!! But Im quite sure this was explained to you not long ago!
gotta be one of the last old school boozers in town...........but whats going on now with the new new gaffers?muisc in the back room...wot you think..me cant see that working, same as wot a lot of other locals are saying.good thing or bad thing?beer is much better, and the whole pub looks and smells so much better.these new mangers have worked hard, but will they stand and listen to the few that are vocal about what we want??this friday will be the 1 to be there for.....??

Now the home of John Moline's weekly Tuesday night blues-rock jam that used to be at the Upper Hale Working Mens club. Licensed until 12 midnight, means that players have more time - starts about 9pm. To join in, just bring your instrument and/or voice. Live bands also on Friday nights. Does a nice pint of Courage Best as well as a couple other real ales. Nice, friendly atmosphere in this traditional pub.
Nice, friendly & a decent pint of Guinness.
My first visit to this pub last night. What a great pub! Friendly staff and punters, decent beer and the best live band on the circuit. Take my advice, if you get the chance, go and see the Rhythm Pigs.
The world's last proper pub now the "Tumbly" has been murdered.
Beer is horrible but the atmosphere is good. Unusually for pubs these days you are actively encouraged to enjoy yourself whilst on the premises. Rapidly becoming a favourite of mine.
Rather more adventurous on the beer front than previously. Ringwood Bitter, Sharpes Doombar and Wychwood Hobgoblin all in decent condition. Old Rosie cider was also available and dangerously drinkable.
First time I've been here this century! Stopped during a rainy bike-ride. Nice welcome from the landlord & Landlady, who were very chatty. Nice dog, and the locals very friendly as well; A PROPER PUB!!! Doom Bar in great nick, at 2.55 pint. Plenty of food on offer. Must be a good place to miss a train....
Missed my train, so popped in for a pint......... what a great "PUB" which also has live music. The staff are very friendly as are the locals. Do not expect plush .. but do expect to feel comfortable (My other half is happy to visit alone), very few of these old victorian station pubs left. This pub is now our local, although we have to use the bikes as wheeled zimmer frames in order to get back home. If you get stuck at North Camp Station drop in, don't be put off by the motorcycles or long haired customers .......... not what you expect. Oh well back on the cycle for another hangover!!
Lively pub with very friendly staff. Extremely biker friendly. Used by the 3B's motorcycle club as their club meeting pub, which means that the beer has to be good! Good selection of ales, food is good, the beer garden is great for kids with a super little play area. Skittle alley/private function room out the back too, which is great for parties.
Popped in there after missing our train to Guildford and we were pleasantly surprised by the friendly barman, great ales selection and warm welcoming atmosphere. Shame we had to meet people in Guildford otherwise we would have stayed there all night. Worth missing a train for.
Had a great Friday night up there, music and Ales were great, atmosphere was excellent - even had it's own Husky (though didn't meet the eskimo though)!
Lively independant local pub, very friendly locals who know how to enjoy themselves,
Have great live bands there every friday. Was there yesterday and saw a great band called The Casinos. Just a little 3 piece, but they sounded fantastic and played a few Wilko Johnson and Dr Feelgood numbers. Pubrock lives!
the old ford is a great place to visit. it has a wide variety of drinks to suit everyone. the beer garden is closed at the moment but ive heard it should be up and going in time for the summer. the locals are very friendly and so are the staff. The bands they play are good and suit a variety of tastes and are on every friday. The function room is for hire for any occasion and food is served if asked for. although if you drive to the pub it can be a bit difficult to find, but the train station is next door which goes to reading or guildford. overall i think this is a superlittle pub!
Does live music on a Friday, some good bands especially an outfit called Listen With Mother, who are there later this month I think. We were in last weekend, very nice pint of TEA indeed. The pub has dropped Pride now, spoke to the landlady and she greed with me that something strange has happenned to Pride, it just tastes pretty crap recently - wherever you go! Rumour is that whilst the pies will stay, the food will be run down to accommodate the government's "smoking and eating in public places" directive. God I love this government - come the revolution......
Very handy place to have a pub - just next to the station, this place has some very interesting decorations inside. Seems like a true british pub, lots of ales to buy
Do the Old Ford and somewhere like Yates actually exist in the same world? Not that I'm knocking chain pubs, but this is the kind of pub we could see more of - one with a bit of character rather than profit maximisation being the sole goal. The beer seems alright to me, maybe it has got better since mally last came here

As an regular vistor to this traditional pub I am concerned at the direction it is heading. Always known for it's real ale my last visit found the Hogs Back Tea "off". I decided to try a London pride instead and what I got amounted to one of the most insipid pints of real ale I've ever had the misfortune to be served. And the price was 2.55 too!
I know the pub has had a series of managers and I don't think the care and attention is there at the moment. Evenm the excellent beer garden is starting to resemble the amazon jungle.
Let's hope this is a blip, as the world needs the Old Ford in its former glory! I won't give up though I'll try again and let you know how things are going.

This is a proper pub of which there aren't too many left. Always a good atmosphere and the ale is always in good condition. Definitely worth a visit!

cracking little pub now, every time i go back to farnborough i make a call here, my wife likes the place too, in the summer you can sit in the large beer garden, take mosquito spray though

After seeing the remarks from those who went before I thought that I would check out the Old Ford last night (been there before, but not for 5 years or so). Really good service and some decent, very quaffable ale. Nice place, well worth a visit. Thanks for the advice chaps!

The Old Ford is (appropriately!) home base for a Land Rover owners club. Meeting every third Monday of each month, the club chose the pub for its friendly atmosphere, great location, excellent guest beers, and (based on 'don't drink and drive') excellent rail connections: both North Camp AND Ash Vale stations being within easy walking distance.

Another pub i used to pop into oocasionly when living in Farnborough bit of a trek from the town centre though, but used to do good real ale.

Having just reopened the Old Ford remains relatively quiet due to its out-of-the-way location, but is still a lovely pub. The new licensees are working hard to attract new customers, and a regular quiz night is now running.
At 1 a pop the pool table is a little expensive, but this is one of few pubs which possesses a jukebox with decent tunes and where the Sky Sports TVs are not the central feature. Well worth a look.
