Was a typical Bar Med when it was opened. Lovely location, ugly building and ugly chain bar. Drink and move on quick!

Spacious with good sofas but no crowd

More like Bar Dead !!! its like a giant over priced school cafeteria , if you like taking out a second mortgage to buy a round of drinks then sit in an empty pub go right ahead !
Dreadful, but so are all the eating and drinking holes in the Oracle.
I love the place. Feels at home. Staff are nice. Music not so great though....
bar med, now come on really what is going on here ,door staff are rude, the food is sh*t, dj is sh*t, the manager is a tw*t, come on avoid like the pague!!!
Music awful and it's expensive. Best go somewhere else.
Standard Oracle fodder, not my cup of tea.
Bar Med? More like Bar Ded.
No beer of note. I drank lemonade, which really takes some doing.
Bar 38 is better on the Riverside than this. But this is better than the Slug & Lettuce. Go figure.

well. when i went there was about 30 drunk women all in black dominating the dance floor to abba. and some really pervy blokes. wasnt terribly impressed
Well this is laughable!! I went there after work for my mates leaving do. Dress down Friday with a couple of quid in my pocket for a drink. They would not serve me as i had no ID?!? I am 20 and do look older than i am. So i sent my boyfriend up to get a round, they then proceeded to tell him that he couldnt buy me a drink as he was breaking the law for buying an under age girl a drink and that he would get arrested?!?!? uuuum ok.
Went there again for another leaving party (must get them to start changing the venue) I was in a suit as it was a Thursday night. As i was driving I ordered a J20. The bar staff again asked me for ID? I said i was buying a non alcoholic drink and why did it matter, she told me i looked under 18? Then she asked will i be having alcohol? I said i might do i havent decided yet. So she then asked me for ID before even giving me a juice? How Petty!?!?! So in the end i showed her my ID for getting J20. I know they have to ask for ID but all my work colleagues are 28+ and i am shortly 21. Plus I used to go in there last summer as the seating outside wasnt too bad so its not as if I havent been there before.
The prices are extremely high, the bar staff are rude, the glasses are dirty, the floor is sticky and the food is cr*p. What good is there? the exit door only.

Forgettable in almost every way apart from the prices which are border line obscene. Three pints should never cost 10, anywhere, ever.
Ok for dancing and reasonable prices but that's really the best I can say

Distinctly average and just what one would expect from a bar in Reading. Uninspiring music and poor clientele make this a definite 'one to avoid'. The barman didn't even know what a French Martini was, despite the bar having a cocktail menu. Rather downmarket and mainstream, but by no means is this the worst bar in Reading.
I went here with my husband we thought the bar was nice but average for the bars in Reading, I feel it's not a pub it's a bar. It's ok for the first bar of the evening but it's only a bar for one drink and then move onto another!! Don't eat here the food is awful!!!! The menu looks appetising but when you eat it, it's shocking how chefs [if you can call them chefs!] serve it that is very puzzeling!! The starters are ok but that is about it!!
Ive been dragged in here a few times, not my kind of place, but comparing it to its type, its ok....ish !
The comments here dont seem too kind. Just by the pretty riverside complex. It isnt anything to write home about, rather tacky looking

Not the best place to head on a weekend, although you do get a classy women in there. Not enough staff so bar is always ramed, and too expensive.

not as bad as anonymous'es comments below. Just an average, "theme" bar. OK for an overpriced drink. Food OK, clientele acceptable, music what you expect these days. Don't tell me this wasn't what you weren't expecting
