I quite liked liked this place on my visit one lunchtime. Quite a cosy interior with outside seating as well. As far as I could see there was only one ale on tap that was Bombardier priced at 2.95. Normal sort of pub fayre on the menu which was fairly well priced. Staff were polite too.
Doesn't seem to be as busy as other places nearby so if you're looking for somewhere for a quick bite and a drink then I'd recommend a visit.
8/10.

Not the best choice of beers. Looked something from the outside but disappointing on the inside. Not my cup of tea.

Not been back there for a good 18 months but have to agree with the previous review...it was something special, now something ordinary.
But - bloody hell what a time we had...

i used to work here when it first opened in the early nineties, it was fantastic and was THE place to be in Nottingham. We had over a hundred staff and made Greenhalls ALOT of money. Couldn't wait to go back down memory lane until..... karaoke?? pool tables?? fruit machines??? the service was none exsistent and i could have poured myself a drink before the barman finally arrived!!! i nearly cried, it was one of the best years of my life working here and cannot believe it has turned into chav central. I'm appalled and grieving. please make it stop!!! come back graham and debbie!!!

No real ale but the service was friendly and helpful

A scandalous colonization of a prime, sympathetic waterfront development. Luckily, Via Fossas are now thinner on the ground after their eighties heyday. The service behind the bar was clueless despite it being a quiet sunday afternoon and the locals had no sense of their proper place in the queue: a reflection of the pent up aggression to be found on the streets of this Stag Do capital of the UK.

Note that this pub has now closed

Such a shame....
When the water front area was first developed it was a lovely place to sit enjoy a pint in the sun, enjoy some good food in any of the pubs and admire the surroundings.
But, after paying a visit to Via Fossa only a couple of months ago, I was reminded of just how far downhill it's gone.
The service at the bar was appalling, the barman was more interested in giving his mate a free pint than serving paying customers, and the poor lady next to me asked for the wine menu to then be told "I dunno where it is, you'll have to look round the tables", and then there is the general clientel, which mostly consists of either pretentious posers or beered up half wits whose only real motivation in life is to see how many fights they can start.
And just when you thought it couldn't get any worse...
After we had found a little secluded area to sit in and chat whilst we had a bite to eat, up goes the volume. I've stood behind concorde when it's taken off and it would be easier to hold a conversation behind it than in here!!
So to summarise, a nice venue, but might be a good idea to pull down some of the football memorabellia, turn down the music a bit, and cut out the offers on shots & alco-pops and it might stand a chance again.

This pub/bar is housed in a gorgeous building the decor is great there are loads of levels and little hidy holes, its wonderfully situated on the waterside and its great to enjoi a pint outside by the river in the summer, but why oh why is it always full of complete tossers! Please someone throw out the knobbers and make this into a real ale pub like The Fellows, sigh such a waste....

I've been here! It is indeed a very groovey pub, full of interesting nooks and irreverent decor. Class. Good for: Never got the chance to find it's strength - I was just passing through.

This is a great pub in Summer. It backs out straight onto a canal so you have a nice drink sat/standing and watching the boats go by. Busy but plenty of bars to get served at.

this place has it all, fit birds, reasonable drinks prices and a great location. unfortunatley it also is located right by the law courts. so while your enjoying your hard earned pint you will probably be interrupted by a load of guffawing lawyers who are celebrating getting another 600 illegal immigrants the right to stay.still you may be able to participate in the daytime sport of goading poor bastards going into court 3 to answer a speeding offence...great fun!
